Stain Removal - Washington,MO

I have tried oxy clean, dreft, dawn, amonia/water on my carpet to try to get mustard stains out and nothing has worked. Any suggestions?

What can I do next?

You could try using shaving cream. Not the gel. Just squirt a small amount on the carpet and dab with a paper towel or soft cloth. Might have to do it a couple of times if it is really set in. It works for me, hope it works for you.

I'd contact the manufacturer of the carpet to see what they recommend (if you know). I'm sure the recommendations will vary based upon what kind of fibers were used.

Our dog tends to throw-up on our carpet often, many times with bile which stains really badly.

One trick we learned from the Queen of Clean was to treat, put a few folded towels (white preferably) over the stain with something heavy on top to help wick the stain out of the carpet. Works beautifully. You have to keep the weight there 24 hours to really get the stain out.

I'd also check out her website as she claims she's never met a stain she couldn't remove.

A couple weeks ago my son got sick all of our carpet and he had been drinking red juice. Fun stuff huh? Well, I looked all over trying to figure out what on earth would help. A friend of mine told me to go to Lowes and get something call Krud Kutter and that it was amazing. Of course everyone says all of their products can get stains out and we all know they don't really so I started looking for reviews online before I went and stocked my cabinets with yet another carpet cleaned. WOW!! GREAT REVIEWS. So, I gave it a shot.... what do you know it came out of my carper. I was amazed! Apparently, you can use it for so much more as well but it did the trick from my carpet. They have it in the bottle spray for little areas as well as the big jug if you want to clean your carpets with it. I hope that helps! Good Luck!

Mustard is a dye. It is not going to come out :(

I have used Sol U Mel to get out carpet stains and also when we got our puppy last year not only took care of stain but also is great with the smell. It can be used on variety of surfaces too - I call it my miracle cleaner.

Use SOL-U-MEL. It’s a mother’s dream!! It gets tough stains out of EVERYTHING! It took out permanent marker from our couch upholstery and I recently used it to get old stains from our carpet. It took crayon off the wall in one swipe! It’s amazing!!!

HI J.,

I have a product called Prespot that I use for carpet stains and it works wonders. My husband, BELIEVE IT OR NOT, spilled a entire gallon of green paint on our beige carpet at church and all we had there was a bottle of diluted Tub and Tile (from the same company). It got it all out! We wiped up as much as we could, saturated it with Tub and Tile, and then took a wetvac to it and no one could see it on Sunday. The enzymes in a natural cleaner will break down a stain much better than any chemical.

If you want more information on the product let me know.

Spot Shot. It has never failed me. It has gotten out absolutely everything for me--red wine, dirt, formula, dog "droppings." I would think it would get out mustard as well. I've not had experience with mustard but this stuff is a miracle worker. Good luck!!
