I need help with getting a red stain out of the carpet from throw up. I used a steam cleaner with water only, I was not sure what to use that would not set the stain. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

Red carpet stains are the hardest to get rid of, if all else fails, after you have tried all the carpet cleaning products, the local carpet cleaning guys will have a product specifically for getting rid of red carpet stains. I had to call once when I was renting so that I could get my deposit back, it only cost $25 for that one area. I had tried ever product I could think of and some that seemed right off the wall but were suggested... so if all else fails.. it could be less expensive than replacing the carpet.

Oxiclean is great for food stains and set-in stains. I buy it at Target and prefer the liquid to the powder.

Scrub the stain with water and regular blue dawn dish soap. Place a towel over the treated area and iron. You can type in a search for carpet stain removal and come across an exact set of instructions. My friends spilled juice on new carpet and it worked like a charm. Good luck.

Oxiclean is good, but for vomit (or pet stains or other bodily substances) I really like enzyme-based cleaners. There is one called Mother's Little Miracle, which is great. There are other enzyme-based ones too, though, if you can't find that. They really work well. Some of the pet cleaners are enzyme based and I would try one of those if you can't find the one I mentioned above.

I have two products that work really great for anything with juice, blood, body fluids etc.

They are called Juice Out and Unbelievable! You can use them on clothes as well as carpet and apholstery! With two boys, you have no idea how much these two products have saved our carpet!

Just google them and you can order them online!

Best wishes!

I got my iron, an old dishtowel and a jug of water with a few drops of dish soap in it. Put the iron on high, get your rag or towel (preferably terry cloth) wet, lay the rag down on the stain and put your hot iron down on the towel. Press down with the iron in one place for a few seconds and then just run the iron back and forth. Lift the iron up and pour some more water on the towel and then iron back and forth again. Keep on doing this until the stain is gone. I have had really bad and big stains that took a half an hour to iron out, but I got them out.

I love Oxyclean. It seems to get almost anything out. Follow the directions on the package.

I use a product called kids and pets. You can get it at Target and I have seen it at Jewel. This has pretty much gotten all of my carpet stains out.
Good Luck!

I've had really good results from Eco-88 which I purchased at a specialty pet store. It takes out pet urine, cat spit, and even took out chocolate (our dog ate almost a whole bag of chocolate chips!). I just spritzed the Eco-88 on the spot and blotted with paper towels.
