Hello. My husband and I will be celebrating our 1st wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks. We live in Plano and would like to find some place to get away for a couple of days. We want some place within driving distance from Plano though we would be willing to drive several hours. I would love to be somewhere away from a big city; someplace where we can relax and maybe enjoy the outdoors. I'm from a small older town in Indiana and would love something with that feel.

My husband and I stayed at a BEAUTIFUL bed and breakfast in Granbury last summer! IT was amazing! It is eight on the water, has a slat water pool and is 2 blocks off of the town square so you can walk to dinner etc! I HIGHLY reccomend it -- we will be going back this fall!! Here is their info:
Contact Inn on Lake Granbury at:
205 West Doyle Street - Granbury, TX 76048
Phone: 877-573-0046
Email: ____@____.com

You can even order in room massages!!! In the afternoon they have a wine and snack time and they have amazing breakfast! Whatever you do! ENjoy!

We just went there for the first time in May for our 5th anniv. We loved it. So serene, very personal attention paid to the guests and the food is incredible! Check it out!

I would highly recommend that you check out Peace of Haven Cabins and RV Park. Here's a link to their website. http://www.apeaceofheaven.org/ The owners are awesome people and the place is fantastic. Its a Drive from here, but well worth it.

If you like the Fredricksburg idea, there is a great Bed and Breakfast called Camp David. Its owners have two son, that are both United States Marines. Here is their website. http://www.campdavidbb.com/
Congrats on your 1st Anniversary, I hope you both find a fantastic way to enjoy it.

I second Jefferson, TX. It is a couple of hours east of Plano. In addition to Caddo Lake it is also near Lake of the Pines. It is a nice small town.

IF you like the old small town feel with lot of antique stores and stuff like that you may try Fredricksburg in the Texas Hill Country.

Hey M.! Congrats on your first anniversary. My husband and I enjoy being outdoors and love to kayak. There are some really nice state parks within driving distance. Palo Duro Canyon is supposed to be beautiful. Tyler State Park is nice, I think it's only campsites. Anything on the Comal/Guadalupe River is usually beautiful.

There is a lovely b&b in Dripping Springs, The Star House, starhousebandb.com - we stayed there over Mother's Day. It's not the normal b&b where you sit around the table with everyone and have to make conversation - you actually have your private bungalow style, 1 bedroom house. They leave breakfast in a basket on your door step.

Other quaint old towns in Texas - Nacogdoches, Fredericksburg, Salado or Wimberley.

If you go north, try Beaver's Bend or Lake Murray, and you can stop in a play a little poker at an Indian Casino...they are on every corner :)

Rockport, Tx is on the coast - its a 7 hour drive, so its a hike, but lots of fun with great restaruants.

Hope you have a great anniversary!

It's in Arkasas and looks like a lot of fun. We planned a trip last year but never followed through because we got pregnant! It looks like this place caters to lovers.:-)
