Spring Break! - Mansfield,TX

My last class just left my room a little while ago, so I am now FREE! I think I'm more excited about Spring Break than the students. :)

We're having family movie night tonight to kick it off right. It's cold, so we'll have a fire, order pizza, and watch a family friendly movie. The rest of the week we have very few plans. I have a couple of students that were in a very bad car accident a couple of weeks ago and won't be returning to school this year, and I plan to go visit them. I also want to work outside some since the weather is supposed to warm up and be beautiful. Other than that, I plan to sleep, read, and hang out with my boys (and hopefully catch up with a couple of friends, too). It sounds so perfect to me!

How about you all? Do you have any fun Spring Break plans?

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thanks! I do plan to have a wonderful break, and I appreaciate the positive posts and private messages I've received as well. :)

I know that not everyone understands the long hours teachers put in, and I'm not going to get into it here. Instead I'm going to go enjoy movie night with my family as planned. I hope you all enjoy your weekend, also!

Hey Cheryl B, I bet you were wishing you had chosen a career that gave you the wonderful hours of us that chose to work for the educational system! How many weeks a year are you off home taking care of your kids? Those 14 weeks off a year are spent home with my kids who are currently 2 and 4...pretty sure NO JOB tops that! Thanks for understanding!

Lucky girl! I am very jealous! As someone who works w/ kids and has many family members and friends who are teachers, I can honestly say you definitely deserve the time off!

It seems to me that people w/out kids or who want to show their ignorance do not consider the long days you do put in, how much of your own money you have to spend, the days you stay late and go in early...I would be willing to bet, that if people wanted to compare hours to hours, teachers work just as much, it's just more concentrated. And I know for a fact that just because my kids have a day off does not mean the teachers are not at school working!

What people also fail to consider is that it's the good teachers who help our children achieve becoming who they are to be!

OK, stepping off soap box now...enjoy your vacation...although, you do have a lot of vacation every year, so it should be no big deal, right? **sarcasm**

BTW...spring break here wiil mean a houseful of kids, but we take a family vaca in the summer...THAT'S what I look fwd to! Have a great break!

Updated to add - I'm sorry someone chose to take your lighthearted, good natured question to a dark and spiteful place.

I've chosen to work through Spring Break and let my kids stay with my family sitter. Too crowded to go anywhere this week.

Tonight we are going to stay in the hotel my husband works in and make use of the pool for a little mini-getaway.

We're going to take a few days to go to San Antonio in April, so just sticking close to home for Spring Break.

I am going to grade papers, plan for the next two major units once the break is over and reassign seating charts for 7 separate classes. Haters don't get the teaching profession. Hope you have a good break, would love to hear what movie you guys are watching, we rented Hugo. Will probably be Sunday before I get caught up on housework to have time to sit and enjoy!

I am actually getting to take it off this year with my boys which is nice and since my husband is not working right now it will be the four of us. We decided that we want to have a yard sale at my mom's house since she lives out in a good area for it and I don't. We are trying to down size things so we figured this is a good way to start. If the darn rain and cold will stop. I hope we will have a little fun this week but most will be working getting stuff together. At least we will be together. But I may have to do a movie night with them cause they would love that or a game night.
