I am looking for a good place for my husband, myself , and our 6 month old to go for spring vacation. It just so happens we are going during college spring break. We want a beach desination, but want to avoid the college spring breakers. Any ideas?

What can I do next?

I am from the Houston area. We used to go to Galveston all the time. The best place to avoid them is in Freeport, not too far more south than Galveston. San Louis Beach between Galveston and Freeport is usually a nice place to go also.

Rockport Texas is about 20 north of Port Aransas. It's nice also.

Port Aransas! It is a great destination for families. We went there a couple of years ago during Spring Break and were pleasantly surprised how few college (and high school students) were there. It is a pretty place w/some reasonable places to stay and lots to do as a family. We are planning on going back this summer w/some other friends and their kids.

Port Aransas is nice - we just moved to Corpus and have been there a couple of times. When I wanted to do something beachy for a family vacation, I wrote down this website www.port-royal.com. It is a resort in Port Aransas. I have not seen it but we have only gone to the town and not really driven around.

Good luck though and have a blast!!!

Port Aransas is a great location. There are alot of privately owned beach houses in port a on the beach that people rent out for the weekend or longer.I called the Chamber of Commerce to find out about the visitor center.
Hope this helps,

It's not the beach....but, what about Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine? I've been and it's very nice. They have an indoor waterpark with a kiddie area and this summer they will have the outdoor waterpark open. It's only open to hotel guests so it won't be overcrowded and it's family oriented. That way you could definitely keep your baby out of the sun and still have water fun! Good luck!

The Port Royal that Marci mentioned is really nicei have stayed there a few times. Its like an apt., with a full kitchen and dishes, everything you would need. Im not sure about spring break time though, Corpus is usually pretty crowded, but i would call and ask at the port royal and see what they say, i know they also have a huge pool area and a personal entrance to the beach from the hotel. Good Luck and have fun!!!

Not sure if you want to take your six month old out of the country, but there are lots of family only resorts. Call you local travel agent they could help you find a nice place to go.
