Spray Tan - Newton, KS

I am considering getting a spray tan for the first time. I would like to camouflage the varicose veins that I got when I was pregnant. I haven't had one before, and don't really know anything about them. How much do they cost? How long will it last? Should I have them do my face too? And any other advice (positive or negative) would be appreciated. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I recently did a tan spray in one of the booths and was not happy. I exfoliated well but the tan still faded splotchy and I had streaks where either the stuff had ran down my heel or I hadn't rubbed it in good enough. Next time I would definetly spend the extra money to have a custom spray tan done with an airbrush.

hi J.! i've been spray tanning before and it came out great! i went back in april before going on a vacation and it lasted about a week or so. it just depends how often you shower, sweat, swim etc...obviously the more you wash yourself, the less time you'll have the tan. i did it in the machine and it is a cold spray, but a drier comes on as soon as the first spray goes. you push a button when you are ready and there is a pic that shows you the way to stand to avoid blotches and streaks. my mom went somewhere different and a person actually sprayed her. her spray tan came off on her clothes and bed sheets...mine didn't come off on any clothes at all. but i also had a drier and she didn't...it's definitely a matter of personal opinion. and when it sprays your face you do have to hold your breath, but other than that...i was never told to hold my breath. it's just a water/sugar base tan mix and it won't harm you. you'll never know if you like it til you try! :) good luck with your decision.

Hey J.,

I've done the spray tan several times before and I actually like it. The cost will just depend on where you do it and i use to just do it as a package deal so I can't remember exactly what I did pay for it, but I liked it a lot. It is a safer way to get a tan and it actually works. I did do my face I just kept my eyes closed and make use you use the barrier cream around your finger and toe nails so you don't get yellow nails, but I would recommend it for sure!!! I haven't done it for awhile because I am pregnant now and I work from home now and I use to do it on my lunch breaks, but I really liked it. It last about 7-10 days I believe, but I always did it when I was either going to be able to get outside for a bit or sometimes I would do it and use a high pressure tanning bed and you get instant results. Good luck!!!

if you're just trying to cover up the veins, then another option would be: facial foundation. I've used it & it truly does work. & a heck of a lot easier....& remember how Lindsay Lohan & other Hollywood people have looked in spray tan oopsies!

Hi J., I'm in the same boat as you! Have several areas of little spider veins from my three pregnancies. In my area, a spray tan costs about $18 for a partial or $25 for full body. I've been told it can last about 7 days if you moisturize well and avoid shaving as much as you can. Maybe using something like Nair before having the tan done would keep the need for shaving down and make the tan last longer. I don't think I can afford to have this done all summer long, but might go once or twice. I probably will just have my legs done. Hope this helps!

Hi J.,
I would not spray tan my face because if you have any type of alergic reaction it is going to show on you face as well as your body. I would also try some tanning lotion and lay in the sun firt to see how that works. You can also contact the tanning spa to see what their success rate is and if people normally do their face. Good luck

Hi J.! I'm assuming you mean the spray tan that the girl takes the gun and directly sprays you, right? Well I have gotten it done twice and LOVED it! I got a level one the first time b/c I didn't want to look like I'd been tanning (I have had Melanoma). Anyway, it looked great so I got a level two last time right before we went to Mexico. It was even better. I didn't look too dark, but I had a great bronzy glow! It lasts 10 days they say. But more like a week!! And DO your face. It will look funny if you don't. The place I go is Galini in Bolivar MO. It costs around $20 to have your whole body done. I say go for it!! It is nice. And it looks as good as a regular tan without the damage! Good luck! I can email you a pic of me right after a level two if you would like. Just send me a message w/your email and I'll sent it to ya! Have a great night!!

Hi J.!
I am a tanner! lol. I know its bad for you, but I dont want to be pale! Spray tans have come along way if you are not interested in uv rays. But they are expensive, a normal head to toe, would be about $30-50 and it lasts about a week. If you dont mind the expensive part, they are pretty good. They are supposed to be pretty natural and vegetable based so they arent bad for you. I personally just go for the tanning bed because its cheaper and the tan lasts longer. I know a lot of people that get sprayed for weddings when they dont have time to tan. I have had a couple pregnant friends get sprayed because its supposed to be safe for pregnant woman. Anyways, good luck getting tan!

I have gotten the spray tan twice this year. It was $30 each time. I did it for my brother's and then my sister's weddings. I don't have the time or money I used to for tanning beds. I just needed the tans for the bridesmaids dress in each wedding, so I didn't look like a ghost ;). The tan only lasts about one week and it isn't hard to do. Some tan stuff will come off on the clothes you put on immediately after tanning, but most of it washes out (only my underwear stayed stained). I would recommend it if you need the tan for a specific event or if you are willing to keep getting it done every week or so throughout the summer. Oh, and it won't keep you from burning if you do get out in the sun. Good luck with your choice!
