Spotting the Day of Missed Period
Hi. I am definatly pregnant which was confirmed by a quanative HcG test I was given yesterday. However the day I should have missed my period, I had very light spotting, like 15 minutes worth and period like cramping that whole day. My HcG test came back in the normal range and I have to go back tomorrow and have one done again where I will get the results on Monday. I still have a stretching sensation on my right side, but no more bleeding after that inital 15 minutes. My doctor said it could have been implantation bleeding, but I had already had numerous positive HPT's by that point. Any help would be great!

I also had some minor spotting for the first three months of my pregnancy, on the exact days I would have had my period. The doctor couldn't explain it, but it came every month like clockwork. After three months, it went away.

I had some spotting too with my second. I actually didn't know I was pregnant and thought it was my period. If it has stopped I wouldn't worry about it.

With my third I had some spotting - it was probably around 6-8 weeks. I did call and they did an ultrasound because I was going on vacation on CO so if there were any problems I would be far from home. Everything was fine. The spotting was extremely minor but I NEVER had a single noticable spot during my first 2 pregnancies - even after sex, exams or membrane stripping when they tell you to expect it. Pregnancy continued on without complication and spotting never returned. I think they typically say that minor spotting isn't too concerning. It's more when you are actually bleeding. I did have more pulling sensations during my third pregnancy as well.

R.,
Some people will continue to have their first menses after conception. It does happen. Also, there are some rare women out there that have continued to have their normal meses every month throughout their pregnancies. If you continnue to have any pain or cramping, or if the bleeding goes on for longer than normal, then you should definately contact your physician. The other thing to note here, is if you have an rH negative blood type, any spotting you have needs to be reported right away. Good luck and may you have an uneventful and happy pregnancy!

Hey there R.,
I actually had a very light period for a couple days of my first pregnancy. It was fine. Same thing with my sister. Sometimes that happens to some women so I wouldn't worry yourself about it! Good Luck!
