Spotting in Pregnancy

Hi. I'm pregnant, I believe about 7-8 weeks but I'm not sure. I was spotting before I found out I was pregnant several weeks ago and this morning I woke up to brown spotting on my PJ's. It's happened throughout the morning and has even been brown mucous. This is my third pregnancy. I called my doctor and they said to go in tomorrow and do some blood work as well as on Tuesday to check my hormones. I have bad back pains. I ask for your prayers that all will go well with my unborn child. God has this all in His hands and I just ask that you pray for our family as we go thru this difficult time.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ladies, thank you for all your positive input and especially your prayers. I just got back from the doctor and they did an ultraound and there is nothing there, no ovum, no sac. It's as if my body absorbed it somehow. They think I'm having a miscarriage and that's why I'm expelling the blood now. This was just not in God's will. I accept it. Thank you.

I am editing my original comment below because I just read the update from you. I also had the same situation that you're experiencing to happen to me as well, with the blighted ovum. And as you have concluded, it is simply just one of those things that is beyond us. So, I am thankful that you are accepting it to move on so that God can bless you and your family with another healthy pregnancy.

Original Comment: My prayers to you and your family. My strong suggestion would be to have the hormones checked asap. Often the spotting is due to low progesterone levels. The doctor could give you some progesterone, if so. You can also use natural progesterone cream. If it turns out that your progesterone levels are low, the I would suggest having this level checked in between pregnancies on a monthly basis at the time of the month when it should be its highest. If you see that it's too low (google or ask dr. about what's normal range for certain times of month), then you can use progesterone cream yourself on an ongoing basis to get it normalized before you are pregnant. I did this and now have 4 children. Some doctors will say they'll wait until you're pregnant to check your progesterone level and see if it's normal. And a select few might be proactive and check your levels before pregnancy. I would suggest doing it before pregnancy in the future.
Wishing you the best,
Kim

I also had spotting with my last pregnancy. It was brown as well. All was fine. My daughter is now ten months. Of course, God is in charge. I just wanted to offer a similar situation with a positive ending. We prayed every minute as I know you are too. God Bless! I will pray for you too.

You are in my prayers and I know that this is a difficult time but keep your faith and know that God will work it out. When I was pregnant with my first son I had a very similiar situation the first time I started spotting I had a urinary tract infection that was really bad. A few weeks later I started again and my doctor made me take it easy (keep my feet elavated and bed rest for a week). After that everything went fine I did not have anymore problems throughout the rest of the pregnancy. Just try to take it easy and get some rest and let your 3 "boys" pamper you.

I was in the hospital at LEAST once a month when I was pregnant with my daughter. I was spotting, had bladder & kidney infections, etc... But she is now 5 1/2 & very healthy. I hope & pray your sweet baby stays put!

With my second child I never had a period before so I didn't know I was even pregnant till I was 12 weeks along. (I was still nursing my first). So when I did find out I was pregnant I was concerned cause I had been spotting/discharging for weeks off and on. They did tests and all was fine. They said the brown was "Old" blood, so not to be concerned unless it was alot of red blood. At about 22 weeks along I bled bright red blood out of nowhere. I went to the ER and they couldn't figure out why since all was normal. Of course I was kept with a close eye for the rest of my pregnancy but delivered 9 days early to a healthy 22inch 8lb 6oz boy. I am praying for you. I too have 2 boys and just had my girl 5mos ago. I pray for the best for your family.

This happened to me with my 5th child. All was well though. I was worried too, but there was no need to worry. I thought that I was going to have a miscarriage, which I had never experienced before. I think it lasted about a month or so with him. It varied in many colors...one of them just like you are describing. When I asked friends about it, I was surprised at how many this happened to and everything was fine. Try not to worry too much about it though...I know easier said than done. Good luck and congratulations!
