Spotting in First Trimester - Joliet,IL

I am only five weeks pregnant, and last night I started some very light spotting. It continued today off and on. I did call the doctor on call, and I'm going to the doctor tomorrow. He doesn't seem overly concerned since it's not accompanied by any pain. I did not have any spotting during my first pregnancy, so I just need some reassurance. Anyone have spotting this early and go on to have a healthy pregnancy?

What can I do next?

Thanks, girls! I saw the doctor this morning, and everything is fine!

I had light spotting the first three months of my pregnancy when I was due to have my period and didn't have any other problems... and now have a healthy baby! Good Luck!

I had spotting at around 9 weeks with my second pregnancy. The doctor said it was nothing to worry about especially after he was able to hear a heartbeat. That baby is now a healthy 8 year old boy. Best wishes to you!

I did too. And everything turned out just fine :)

Stay relaxed and if you need some extra reassurance call your doc again... that's why they are there. It can be a nerve-wrecking! I can understand your worry.

Congrats to you- and cheers to a healthy pregnancy and baby!

Absolutely. I bled off and on for three months and went on to have a
healthy baby. I would say, do not worry, but you will. I remember how
I felt. Just try to relax and congratulations.

I had some minor spotting in my first trimester....it was brown blood. If it's brown it means that it is old blood. It stopped probably when I was 9 weeks along. My daughter was born just perfect!

yes. I had bright red blood in my spotting and maintained both my pregnancies. It wouldn't hurt to take it easy though.

This could very well be implatation bleeding. I had that with my last pregnancy.

Light spotting is one thing, bleeding is another. As long as it is just light spotting, it is most likely your body adjusting to the hormonal changes of pregnancy. This happened to me both pregnancies at around this number of weeks and both my babies were born completely healthy. I did suffer a miscarriage inbetween my two pregnancies, but that was a completely different type of bleeding. It was heavier and more of a dark red, where the spotting was light red to pink.

Many many women have spotting during pregnancy and deliver healthy babies so try not to worry. If everything else seems fine, it probably is, so try to relax and have a good day!
