Spotting - Fredericksburg,VA

We are in the IVF process and in the middle of the 2WW. My first blood test is scheduled for Thursday with the next one on Monday. This is our first IVF cycle. This morning, I woke up and found a little dark brown spotting. Then more spotting when I went to the bathroom at work. I have called the REs office and am waiting to hear back from them, but thought I'd ask the Moms for any advice / similar situations you may have had in the past. Any info is greatly appreciated.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thanks everybody for all the support. I had the beta hCG test yesterday. The results are not definitive, but the clinic told me to continue with the medicine until the second beta test on Monday. Depending on those results, they'll schedule an ultrasound to check on the baby. Hopefully, all is still well. We're trying to maintain a stress free bubble around the house and relax and take things a little easier and slower. Thanks again for all the support.

My Husband and I went through IVF and when I was pregnant a few weeks into it I also had brown spotting. The doctors told me that that was old blood that was part of the lining when the embryos attached some of it may have came loose. I can't say that is what is happening to you, but they told me as long as it wasn't bright red not to be alarmed. I can say I have two beautiful girls to back that up. But, like I said I don't know if this is what you are having. I was scared to death when it happened to me. We had tried for 10 years to have children. I hope this may have helped a little. I wish you all the best.

K.,
Please try not to worry about the spotting. The spotting may well be implantation bleeding and the worrying is much more dangerous than the spotting itself. I have done two cycles. The first one, I had spotting and it was successfull- beautiful twins. I just got finished my second two week wait. I had spotting again, but this time did not work out for me. However, I got rearended in a fairly bad accident during my 2ww (last week actually) and had tons of stress on my body and my mind. Treat your body well, by taking care of yourself and relaxing as much as possible for the best chance. You did need to report it to your RE so that they can watch out for signs of an ectopic pregnancy just in case. I'll send you all the baby dust I didn't get to use this time. Good luck, and I am wishing you well.

I went through 2 1/2 years of infertility and am a memeber of numerous online support groups-I'm no expert, but I've done a lot of research. A little bit of brown spotting doesn't mean that you aren't pregnant. It could be implantation spotting or a little old blood from your egg retreival or transfer. I wish you all the best and please post on here if you do get a positive. I know that infertility and the IVF process can be very difficult so hang in there!

Relax! It can be very stressfull but just wait until you get the test results. My second attempt at IVF was a very stressfull time in my life and I too had spotting but ended up with a beautiful baby girl and a handsome baby boy from round two and a handsome boy after the first round. Good Luck and God bless you and your husband during this stressful month.

hang in there
no stress
may be implantation spotting
just wait and seeee

patience at all costs
relax put you feet up and breathe deeply and forget about it at least for right now. breathe and relax all unnecessary muscles.
prayer never hurts, but could help....
prayer is only talking with your Father in Heaven, and he wants to hear from ya every once in a while, even when you are stressing. and more when you are in need. just chat with Him, you just don't know.

Ive never done IVF but perhaps its just spotting from the procedure. It is invasive so I would think it could be normal. Your doctor should have warned you of the "side effects", I hope that you hear from them very soon. I also hope that all is well and the procedure works for you this time. Best wishes.

Spotting is ALWAYS worrisome, but red is worse than brown. It is not too uncommon to see some "old blood". If you need to wear a pad it is worse as well. Keep track of it and definitely notify your MD. Brown spotting can occur as the embryo imbeds into to endometrium. Are you taking progesterone suppositories per chance????That too can cause spotting. Best of luck and keep us all posted!

I know it's hard to do but wait until you hear from your nurse. There could be a lot of theories/reasons of why you're seeing the spotting and getting worked up about what it might mean will drive you mad! We also went through fertility treatments through Shady Grove, although we did 4 cycles of IUI not IVF. I know how intense those 2 weeks are! My best advice is try not to analyze it too much until you talk to your nurse/doctor. They are the only ones who could tell you what is going on!

I wish you all the best! Hang in there!
