Spot on Son Growin Area??

Ok I noticed this last night when my 2yr old started telling me his peepee hurt, I looked at the area and just noticed a red spot so I treated with zinc med. for diaper rash, well the sitter called about it today. When I got home I looked at the area again closer and he has this red spot no bigger than a quarter (red)in the center of this is a white spote and then a very little pin point red dote. I was extremly fussy, tired even after good night sleep and nap, and had water like brown diareha. So I took him to the nurse practioner due to the time she was the only availbe, she tells me its exzema (spelling may be off)which my oldest has that and it looks nothing like this spot, I tried explaing that he dont complain of iching he cries that it hurts. I did pull tick off his neck a couple of wks ago, so I brought the scare of lime disease she wouldn't even look at me. Am I crazy and just tuck my tail and listen to what she said or has anyone else ever see similar on themselves or children. Please help any and all advise would be great.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

First off thank you to all you great moms out there your advise was greatly appreciated. I did take him back into another hosp. that night, they advised that it was a spider bite and was given the correct med. the spot is almost gone feeling a little better still kind of yucky but I am to take him back tomorrow to get a check up on the bite.
I did take the advise bout nurse practioners and will just stick with our family doctor or the er if unable to get in. The treatment from our np here has just put a bad look on her from me.
Again thank you all very much HAPPY MOTHERS DAY TOO ALL OF YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would get a second opinion. I took my son to a practitioner once and will never do it again. That doesn't sound like eczema to me. My son has eczema and it has never looked like you explained. Good luck!

If the spot is getting bigger, I would try to get into the Dr. You could try antibiotic ointment to see if the red spot responds at all. If it is a spider bite, you don't want to wait very long.

I would take him to someone else. If you don't agree with the diagnosis then you have to get a second opinion.

My nephew had spots similiar to what you are describing just about a week ago. I mentioned to my sister that he might have ringworm (only a fungus) and when she took him in, it was confirmed. The doc said that it was very likely ringworm but that if it didn't clear with the medication, then she would treat it as eczema. That may be where your NP got the eczema thing, but maybe you should take him back and question if it really could be ringworm instead.

Take him somewhere else. If it hurts it is probably something different and they need to do a swap test to rule out strep, bacterial/viral infections, etc. Something similar happened to a friend of mine and her doctor told her not to worry so she went to a pediatric dermatologist and found out he was growing out strep! Good thing she didn't wait the 2 weeks. I hope it all goes well and don't feel bad going to a different doctor :)

I would go back and insist on seeing the doctor. Not that nurse practioners can't be good, but when my daughter was 3 months old, I took her in because she had a high fever and severe cold symptoms. I also could only see the nurse practioner and she said it was just a cold. Two days later, I took my daughter back and saw my pediatrician. My daughter was immediately sent for a chest x-ray and diagnosed with RSV pneumonia!

We are the only advocates our children have! Never 'tuck your tail'. If you feel something is not right, go back or go to the ER if he is in too much pain over the weekend.

Could be a spider bite. Sounds like he needs to be seen by someone else.

that does NOT sound like eczema...with the red area and the white head it sounds like it could be mrsa, a deadly staph infection. i wouldn't rule lyme disease out but usually the infection is in the area bitten by the tick. bring him to the ER if she won't validate your concerns, or demand to see her doctor. you can "fire" a health care worker and they HAVE to bring in someone different. good luck!

I'm not in the medical field AT ALL so take this with a grain of salt... Anyway, from how you've described it, it sounds like what they say for a spider bite- redness and white around and flu-like symptoms. Or, the white pimply spot is what my son had on his foot that was a mild staph infection. Either way,
Children's Hospital has a nurses' line, I would call them for help and/or take him to the ER.

Is the spot hot?? Does it look like an infected insect bite?? Not to be negative or scary, but my husband had a bout with a staph infection about a year ago, and what you've described sounds a lot like how the "sores" started. Message me if you think you might want more info.
