Sports for Kids in Stockton--Can You Help Me Out?

I would like to know if there is a sports program (outside of school) for kids age 8 and up in the city of Stockton. Can anyone help me with this? I live in Tracy now and the Boys & Girls Club runs a sports program including flag football and basketball. My son will be turning 8 in May and wants to play real football but we are moving to Stockton this summer and I don't where to start looking. Please let me know if you can help me find out. Thanks!

What can I do next?

M.,

Good morning! I live in Lodi and have found lots of sports programs for our kids through the parks and recreation department. Try the Stockton parks website at http://www.stocktongov.com/parks/ for great local activities. Delta also has a kids college program that is awesome!

Take care and good luck with your move,
Taunia

The City of Stockton Parks and Recreation has programs for kids--everything from sports to dance.

You can check with parks & rec or the local community center near your new house. Where 'bouts you moving to?

SYSA is a great soccer program. Sign ups are actually this Saturday from 10-1 at El Droado School. The teams start practicing at the end of August. Games run from the Saturday after labor day to the second week of November. Games are played at Webster Middle School. All of my kids have played for this league and have met some great friends. Need a picture and birth certificate for sign ups.

Hi M., I am not sure if you've received a reponse yet, but I live in Stockton, have for 2 years now and I have a 9 year old. He plays sports with the City of Stockton and the YMCA. In addition to these there is Baseball and Football that are with various organizations. In the seasons for the two I've noticed they recruit at the grocery stores (Walmart). Hope this helps you.

Hi M.,
YMCA San Joaquin (they have a website) offers sports programs - not sure about football. It may be woth lookiing into. I am sure there are many others.
Good Luck!

Not a sports resource, but some EXCELLENT dance classes through the City of Stockton. Taught by Curtis Campbell of Ordered Steps at both the Seifert Center and the Teen Center downtown. You can find out more at the company's website:
www.theosc.org. Good luck, and welcome to Stockton!
