Sports for 4 & 9 Yr Old
Hi, we're not having much luck with finding activities for the kids. I understand youth basketball is signing up starting this Monday for my 9 yr old. We were hoping to find a soccer league, but to my amazement we are to late because the season has already started and they have a waiting list. If anyone has some connections and could offer some suggestions soccer is our sport of choice. I have coached youth soccer for 15 plus years. We have been in Diamond bar 3+ weeks.
So What Happened?™
Thanks everyone for your input. We found out Sunday at Church,First Baptist Church of Pomona, has a soccer program that they are putting together. We signed up and are awaiting a call. Games are on Saturdays. Thanks again.

Try your local YMCA or community center for sports programs for the kids. This might give you help now, and make time for the signups for next season on all sports. Also, sign ups for Teeball are just around the corner, December or so?

If you are willing to coach a team and there is a waiting list, you will probably be able to get on a team. You need to contact the local league and see if this is possible.

AYSO signups are back in the Spring, with practice starting in August, games in September. So, yeah, you're too late for that. Check your with your local AYSO for the Spring schedule. In the meantime, check out the sports activities sponsored by your city or neighboring cities.

There is an indoor arena in Upland. Uplandsportsarena.com
Did you also try w/ the city of Diamond Bar?
Good luck!

In this area, we have AYSO Soccer, which I think is already underway and it's probably too late to get involved for the year. However, the City of Diamond Bar also has a schedule of recreation classes, and kids soccer is listed there. The schedule comes out 4 times a year I think, and there are usually several sessions -- one after another. There are probably soccer sessions that haven't started yet. Drop by City Hall to pick up a copy of the schedule. Good luck!

You probably won't be able to get in soccer right now...how about looking into ice skating or ice hockey...you are allowed to start at anytime with those.

Is there another youth soccer league in a neighboring city that might still be having sign ups? If not, maybe until next year you could get your younger son into something like karate or tae kwon do?? I am a soccer fan myself so when we get to the sport age I will be looking for a soccer league as well. It is good to know I should start the looking early. I didn't even think about there being a waiting list.
