Spoon Feeding - Beverly,MA

Can one of you refresh my memory. About what age, should/could a child start spoon/child safe fork feed themselves? Rather than eat with their fingers all the time.

What can I do next?

if they can sit in a high chair and are eating baby food or even just cereal, put a spoon in their hand! they can play with it and eventually eat with it while you are teaching them to eat real food.. worked great for both my kids! forks take more coordination, just feel it out..

My son is a year and a half and is using a spoon and fork pretty well. He still loves to just shove in the food, but will use utensils for most of the meal.

my daughter is 18 months old and she can eat most things with a fork but still needs help with a spoon.

Well I actually just took my son for his 15 month check up. His pediatrician said I could give him a baby fork so he gets the feel for it and try to show him how to use it. Eventually he'll get it on his own...like everything else, when he's good and ready! Hope this helps!
