My husband and I have been asked to by our best friends to be their daughter's sponsors. Of course we said yes but I am needing ideas on what kind of gift to get because I feel it needs to be extra special. Any ideas?
Thanks moms!

My sister-in-law was my daughter's sponsor and she purchased the first, in the series of precious moments statues, for my daughter's baptism - I think the series is called "Growing in Grace". And, until she was five, she purchased the "yearly" statue and gave it to her on her birthday. My daughter is 13 now and we are redecorating her room - it's those statues that she doesn't want to remove. Congratulations. What an honor!

Maybe set up a trust fund or savings account for the baby? It's a good time to start and will be a gift that will keep on giving.

As God Parents to the baby it is always nice to give a gift reflective to the family's faith. Also you can be helpful in contributing to the baby's christening outfit. Ask the baby's Mother if the baby has everything.

Usually a monetary gift is appropriate as well.

Hope this helps you. Congratulations on becoming God Parents. A very special role. S. K.

How about a savings bond? You can even make it a tradition to give a savings bond for a birthday or Christmas gift. The parents will appreciate it, and the child will really appreciate it when it comes time to use them.

In the Orthodox tradition you usually give the baby a cross and chain that she/he can wear as an adult. My husband wears his every day and our twins have theirs and they wear them to church.Hope this helps:)

We gave a children's Bible with our nephew's Baptism date. If you are just standing up with the family in a Pentecostal Church the Bible would still be a nice gift. You could also give a blanket with the date embroidered on it.
