Florida state provides free theraphy to any child younger than 3. The agency is either Child Find or FDLRS. You can call your county school district and they will give you the phone number. My son received therapy until 3. If you live in Broward County, once your child turns 3, she will be screened again. If the diagnosis is clealy autism and she is still showing evidence of speech delay, more than likely she will become eligible for the PLACE program. She would be put into the school system, in a class with other children who are either autistic or speech delayed. The class would depend on the diagnosis. Both programs are 100% free!!!!

If you are in Palm Beach County call Child Find or St. Mary's. You will get free speech until the age of 3 and if she qulifies other things. At 3 when the school board takes over there are a few options. At that time they will decided if she shows the signs of Autism or just speech delay and tell you witch program would fit her best speech or Autism Cluster. If they tell you Autism Cluster check out The Palm Beach School for Autism. It is a free Charter school in Lantana that anyone in Palm Beach can go to. They even have bus service. It is a Pre-K for children with Autism and they base there school on ABA therapy which is the best for children with Autism. My son went there for 1 1/2 years and it was the best thing for him.
If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail me. My son is 7 and has Autism and my daughter is 5 and I belive has the aspbergers form of Autism. ____@____.com

Early Steps is great. All 3 of my kids have been through speech. It is free and they do the evaluations right here in Boca. Child Find starts at age 3 and above. Best of luck the programs will work!!

L.,
My son is 4 and has been attending speech therapy for a year now. He goes to therapy at a local elementary school with the on site speech therapist 3x's a week. It is a free service that was the offered through Broward County School Board. He is not suffering from autism, he just had problems with speaking clearly. However, it may be something you would like to check in to because it can give you some help with no out of pocket expense.
