Special Needs Child in Need of a Good Pediatrician in the DFW Area

I have a child who was born with brain damage and is expected to have Cerebral Palsy and MR. I am looking for a good pediatrician for him and my 3 yr. old. We live in North Richland Hills however, I am willing to travel, within reason, to a good Dr.

What can I do next?

I LOVE our pediatrician, Dr.Kim Matlock, at Cook's Children clinic on Keller Pkwy. and Rufe Snow. ###-###-####. My daughter was born at 28 weeks and has some special issues. We were there almost every week from Jan. to March. The doctors are all very thourough and professional. I can't say enought good things about them! I am not sure Dr. Matlock is accepting new patients but they are all awesome!

Contact John Menchaca ###-###-####...he will be out until June 1st...but definitely worth the small wait. He has been on the board of Cooks Childrens Hospital and has even appeared on NBC 5 at times. He has been in this area for 25 plus years...my daughter loves when we go visit him. He is extemely thorough and will take the time to make sure you completely know what is going on. After June 1st he will be in practice without any other doctors...like he used to be a few years ago! I am thrilled about this so that I only have one doctor who knows my daughters history instead of being shuffled around each time we go.

Dr. Karen Pilgrim-King in Arlington is wonderful. She does not specialize in special needs children, but she does she a lot of them. Her phone number is ###-###-####. I have a friend in North Richland HIlls who takes her daughter here, so the drive is reasonable.

Also, I do yoga therapy for infants and children with special needs. If you are interested, please see my website at yogapotential.com

I have been seeing Dr. Valen Radimecky since my child was born (5 years on Sunday) and adore him and everyone his office. His nurse practitioner, Allison, is outstanding and they are all so good with kids. They are at Cook Children's in Bedford, right behind HEB hospital, I live in NRH also, so it's not a bad drive. It is never a problem to get an appointment with them really quick when a little one is sick and there is rarely much a of a wait when you get there compared to other places. They also have an evening and Saturday clinic that's great in an emergency. Not sure whether the ywork with special needs, but it's sure worth a call. ###-###-####

I would recommend going to the local elementary school (I know special needs kids who need lots of support in your area go to Snow Heights) and ask thier nurse (I think Mrs. Hoffman) who the kids there recommend in that area.

Hi,
We love our doctor! Her name is Dr. Julee Morrow. She is with Fort Worth Pediatrics, in Southwest Ft. Worth. I don't know if that is too far for you, but she is wonderful. My girls love her, and she has been great with my youngest daughter, who has Down syndrome. She even saw my nephew while he was in town from Atlanta one time, and he has special needs, too. He has Agenesis of the Corpus Collosum. He's in a wheelchair and doesn't talk...but she welcomed him into her office when he got sick on a visit one time. I thought that was so nice of her. I don't know how far that is from you. Good luck and God bless~
