Hello all...do you know of a cool place to have a 2nd birthday party? I'm looking for something other than Chuck E. Cheese. Nice park locations are ok. Thanks in advance. I gotta get this event planned already.

What can I do next?

My Gym is great. There's also a nice park in Torrance called La Romeria that has a great playground and rooms right next to playground that they rent.

Polliwog Park in Manhattan Beach is GREAT! They have a fenced in play area for the little ones and ducks to watch. Call the MB dept of recreation and parks to make a reservation for tables, otherwise, someone will snatch it up :-)

You could try Adventure Plex in Manhattan Beach. They have great (clean!) indoor climbing things and have private rooms for parties. http://www.adventureplex.org/

You could also look into Under the Sea in Manhattan Beach. They have indoor bouce houses and play equipment. http://www.undertheseaindoorplayground.com/

I hope that helps! Good luck.

Hi- I have two kids (ages 3 & 5)... some places for young children in the south bay that we've really enjoyed.... 1. Little Gym- its off of Torrance Blvd, near Del Amo Mall, great for active toddlers 2. The Art Zone in Hermosa Beach- is fantastic. 3. Under the Sea in Manhattan Beach- a wonderful place for toddlers to play and move. 4. Superkids is a developmental gymnastics class and will do birthday parties in Manhattan Beach.

okay, i saw that people mentioned Kids Concepts. Its a fun place, but open to the public and quite busy, unless you are planning your party for a weekday in the morning. The other places I suggested are closed parties, meaning that you have the entire location to yourself and your guests, which makes the experience more relaxed and comfy. We've been to parties at all of those places and they are fun, but will cost you anywhere from $225+. (Chuck E Cheese can be pricy too and, it's an open party) Having had many huge parties, it's worth it. you don't have to clean up or set up and the people running the party will serve the cake. At the ArtZone, the kids take home all of their crafts, including a glitter handprint, so you don't need to do goodie bags.

you can probably google all of these places- they are on the internet. happy planning!

I don't live in the Southbay/Torrance area and am not familiar with everything available there. However, I rely often on the book "Fun and Educational Places to Go with Kids and Adults in Southern California" by Susan Peterson. My version is from 2003 (the 6th edition), but I would presume it's been updated. This book might help you find some child friendly locations.

I personally have been a few times to a place called "Kid Concepts U.S.A." in Torrance. The first time we went, my daughter was around 2 years old (maybe younger) and she had a blast. It can get crowded and older kids love it as well, but it's been a hit with us. You might want to check it out. They're on Hawthorne Blvd. and their phone number is ###-###-#### and their website is www.kidconceptsusa.com.

Our favorite location for a birthday party in our area is My Gym. It's a private party geared just for you and your child and the staff does all of the work. It's the best!!! There are a couple of My Gym's in your area that I would highly recommend checking out. Their website is www.mygym.com.

Good luck and have fun!!!

This isn't a park and it may fall too much into the Chuck E. Cheese thing but Chik-Fil-A does parties I think too. The one near me (Long Beach Town Center) is nice, clean and they've got a playground. I imagine that is standard as it's a family-run chain.

The only place I can think of is www.kidsconceptsusa.com, but as usual it is rather pricey, too pricey for a lil 2 year old young man. If I'm not mistaken it's at least $300 maybe more for a 2 hour party of 10 kids or less and I'm not sure, but for more than 10, it's like $15 each, crazy expensive. For that price, a nice park with some great food and enough left over for some great gifts. Some games, a pinata maybe and some good friends sounds like a wonderful party in the making. GOOD LUCK!

I have used Kid Concepts (Torrance) and AdventurePlex (Manhattan Beach). Both were good, but better suited for 3 year olds or higher, but if your two year old is VERY active it might work. My Little Gym (Torrance) and The Little Gym (several beach cities and Torrance) both have great schedules for kids that age, but they book up fast. At My Little Gym make sure you do your own invites, I had issues with that - had to cancel the party because most people did NOT receive the invites. Good luck!

i just had one at Veterans Park on Esplanade & Torrance Blvd (above the RB Pier). Everyone loved the location next to the play ground area, where you can still see the ocean. I didn't reserve it or anything since the tables are always pretty free.
Have fun!

We just went to a second b-day at Kids Concepts in Torrance. The kids had a FABULOUS time but it is a little pricey. I am a big fan of the Hpokins Wilderness Park in Redondo Beach as well. There's a duck pond and picnic benches. My 2 yo son always has a blast there.
Good luck, S.

Under the Sea is PRICEY! It costs approx $360 for 15 kids and that doesn't even include the cake, which of course you can't bring in from the outside so that's an additional $45 they stick you for. If you want one of the people to dress up as a mermaid or pirate (which of course would make the party more fun) that'll cost you an additional $90. So all in all you're looking at almost $500!!! I thing having 15 kids at the age of 2 is a bit much to handle. Kids Concepts costs $350 for 10 kids and includes everything from pizza, to cake to decorations to goody bags, even the invitations! Seeing as how he's only 2 you could always go simple with having it at a park with a bouncer. You can never go wrong with that and the kids will stay in there forever! All the parks listed are great parks but of course you will have to call the city to find out if you can have a bouncer at whatever location you choose.

Good luck!
S.~

There are lots of great suggestions here, like My Gym, Under the Sea, Kid Concepts, and parks like Polliwog Park, El Retiro Park, etc. but there are also nice parks on the Hill in Palos Verdes, like Hesse Park and Ryan Park (there's a fun play structure there), so good luck. It seems there is no shortage of fun places to have kids' parties depending on how much you want to spend.
