South Beach Diet Recipes for Meals and Snacks?

l've been eating egg whites, turkey meatballs, made a cod stew with lots of veggies. Needs to be low carb and low sodium. This mommy is trying to lose some weight before the holidays.

What can I do next?

After the birth on my 4th baby, I lost 95 lbs on South Beach. I now follow an "eat-clean" diet that is similar but I try not to eat anything with chemicals. I had my 5th baby last January and have lost 45 lbs and I'm almost to my prepregnant weight. :) Whew! It's hard work.

I buy whole wheat tortilla's made by La Tortilla Factory. The large one's are only 80 calories and they have 8 grams of protein in them with 5 net carbs. The small one's have 50 calories, 6 grams of protein and 3 net carbs. They taste really good too. They have a website that tell's you all the nutrition info and snack idea's. I've tried a lot of different WW tortilla's. I think these taste the best and have the best nutrition.

I wrap pretty much anything in them, cut up chicken, tuna, pork, turkey, deli meat (low processed), peanut butter rolled up with a banana (my favorite). I put spread hummus on it with meat and it taste awesome! I also will use salsa with cut up meat, which taste great.

I try to keep my meal/snacks to around 300 calories. These wraps are very filling. I'm a busy mom and need quick easy meals for myself.

Also, when we eat bison burgers or turkey burgers I don't eat a traditional bun. I buy the whole grain flat sandwhich thin's. There are a few brands out there. They are 100 calories a piece with 5 grams of protein.

I really try not to eat traditional bread. If I do, I only eat one slice.

Good luck with your diet!

Hi Mom,
I have helped others lose weight and keep it off. There have been many discussions about South Beach so be careful. The important factor to getting the weight of of course is activity but also Low-Glycemic meals that take away your carb cravings. Diets do not work on are temporary. If you would like info on what I use, feel free to contact me.

have you googled south beach recipes? how about "eat clean"?
how about

I always start my day with a high protein low carb shake. That takes care of one meal - it's like "healthy fast food"!

Best wishes,

I lost sooo much weight doing South Beach! Good luck!
My favorite breakfast was celery with cream cheese or egg whites with american cheese.
I ate a ton of salads for lunch with pretty much anything I wanted on them except for croutons, or I ate tuna salad or egg salad with no bread.
For dinner we ate a ton of grilled veggies and meat. Side dishes were the worst to figure out, because you have to avoid noodles, potatoes, etc. I became a huge fan of brown rice or cous cous, baked sweet potatoes. I even found a mad love for asparagus with a balsamic reduction with cherry tomatoes and fresh mozzerella. Soo yummy! I will try and dig out some of my old recipes for you!

Snacks: almonds/other nuts, string cheese, cottage cheese, hummus & raw veggies, yogurt

I also love roasted veggies to go with whatever protein you're having - cut up peppers, onions, asparagus, zucchini, whatever else you like, toss in olive oil & garlic (or whatever spices you like) and roast on a stone or baking pan at 450 degrees for 15-20 minutes.

I found lots of recipes I liked in the South Beach book, plus it has a couple of pages that just list "what to eat" and "what to avoid" - I use the "what to eat" page to find snack ideas.

There are two South Beach Diet cookbooks out there. They have great recipes! The mashed cauliflower is a perennial favorite at my house!
