Has anyone experienced sudden soreness/tender belly button? I am about 19 weeks and this just came on all of a sudden....

What can I do next?

I never had it but you should see your doctor right away because you don't want to take any chances.

if it is not actually your belly button, but just above it could be a hernia. i have one that got worse with my second pregnancy. there is really not anything you can do to fix it, but if you realize that is what you have, i may be able to offer some advice for a more comfy pregnancy. good luck.

My belly button did that, too. I was futher along (like 30 weeks or so), and it was especially sore to touch. It went away when I delivered, but nothing seemed to help until then. It wasn't excruciating- just over stretched muscle or something. Check with your OB to be sure, but it's probably nothing, and you're probably stuck with it :(

Congrats on your twins!

Yep, I couldn't stand to have anything touch my belly button - I went to a Lane Bryant store and bought the biggest flowy blouses I could find and then rolled my undies and the waist of all my pants & skirts down so nothing touched my belly button. It's a creepy feeling like fingernails on a blackboard - huh? I HATED it worse than the nausea. I have a friend who noticed the same thing.

Buckle up, it only gets worse! Yes, it hurts because you have two little people inside of you growing very fast! Your tummy is stretching to make room for them, it was a tight fit before you had two rompers inside you, now your insides are being pushed out of the way by four little arms and legs. Don't worry, but just know that this isn't anything compared to what will come! Coco butter is your best friend right now, use it 3 times a day and that will help soften your skin so the stretching wont hurt as much. Best of luck! Congrats!

Yes, it's your "belly button cord" (i.e. muscle) as my dr put it. Funny I didn't have this pain it with my first child, but did with my second. It was very tender to pressure in particular. I forget exactly when it started, but it lasted probably most of my second or into my third trimester and then it went away. If your lucky it won't be there the whole time, although I think some people do feel it the whole way through. Congrats on the twins! Two for the price of one pregnancy!

OHH !! You poor thing. Yes, I experienced that too. My Doc told me there is a muscle that runs fromthe navel to the bottom of the gut area and this is not used to stretching. When it stretches for the first time it gets very sore. I dont know if this is the same thing you are experiencing, but I rubbed an aspirin cream on and it only lasted a few weeks until the muscle got used to stretching.

Yes... one of the beauties of pregnancy. :-)

You might wanna ask your doctor only because if it is too painful, it could be an onset of a hernia... but not much you can do about it until baby comes.

Doesn't hurt to tell your doctor on your next visit.

Sorry it hurts... the good thing is that it goes away eventually... the pain, not the belly button. ;-)
