Soother (Sound Machine) Recommendations
I am in search of a sound machine for baby's room. Something that plays music, nature sounds, etc. A lot of the reviews on some I found on Target (ie baby einstein sea dreams lullaby soother) state that the machine stops working.
Do you have one you recommend?

it has a projector and a timer so it doesn't play all night. This is my go-to baby gift and we own 3 of them for different rooms/travel, etc.

I am similar, to the S.S. We found our humidifier, to soothe my son more then anything! Our alarm clock has a white noise setting and that was also very effective. I've heard really great things, about Cloud B music/noise products. They sell them in Babies R Us. We have the Twilight Turtle (doesn't play noise, just a nightlight.) and it's awesome! Very good quality.

Have you considered a fan? We used a fan in our dauhters room when she was a baby. She didn't like the sound machine, it didn't seem to make any difference as far as covering other noises or getting her to go to sleep on her own. One day when our central air had some issues we put the fan in the room. She was not so sensitive to sounds of the house anymore and went to sleep on her own.
She ended up using it till she about 2 1/2. It gives a great soothing white noise sound, if you oscillate it makes more.
It also has been found to greatly reduce they chance of SIDs somehow. I don't remeber the specifics, but I know it was by a substantial amount. I'm sure you could look it up, I heard it from more than one news source.
We just pointed it away from her at an opposite wall so there was no direct air was being blown on her. Different settings depending on the coolness of the room or weather.
I hope you find something that works for your baby. They all are so different!

We have one from Sharper Image. I was $100+ but has lasted us 6-7 years. And its on every single night in my sons room. We use white noise instead of nature sounds just because it drowns out EVERYTHING!

We have a HomeMedics sound machine in my daughter's room. It has lullaby, heartbeat, nature and one other one. It also has a projector is your child likes to look at stuff before drifting off. Ours was a gift, but I think it came from Kohl's. We love it!! Good luck!!

I used an iHome, and just put nature tracks on an iPod. Love the sound of the ocean... That way, it can be used in different areas or when the child gets older.
