It wont come in until it was ready to push the other one out.
Boys usually loose and get teeth in later than girls. Depending on what tooth it is he might not have been due for it to fall out yet.

My daughter had one of her front teeth knocked out when she was 4 and it didn't come in for two years.

When the Dentist does an x-ray on the mouth, they can see the adult teeth sitting under the surface. If you're worried, make an appt for the dentist to x-ray and check on them. With my DS he didn't get his front two bottom teeth until last...and the dentist was able to tell me that they were there and the adult teeth were underneath and all would be well eventually. It's worth the piece of mind.

M.--we had the exact same situation. My son had his tooth pulled for the same reason in the winter of 2008--we're still waiting for it. Our dentist says it's "right there" but the other front tooth hasn't fallen out yet on it's own. The dentist says when the other tooth falls out it's because then the second tooth is moving down and the O. beside it will likely descend at the same time. They told is probably anytime during his seventh year.....so we're still waiting here, too.

My daughters tooth was pulled out before it was ready to come on its own and it took 4 months to even peak through. We were not worried as we saw the adult tooth underneath in the dentist x-rays. If you have worries, just make an appointment and have an x-ray done. I am sure you will find the tooth is there and just not ready to break through yet since the baby tooth was taken before it's time.

I wouldnt worry unless his teeth are trying to grow in around it. Then he might need a spacer.

My son natually lost his tooth 15 months ago (at 6 1/2 yrs old) and it only now is starting to grow in. These things just take longer sometimes.

Hi there M.. Just wanted to add one thing to all the other great responses you got. My daughter lost a tooth very early due to a swingset accident. The dentist said the longer the space is there, the longer it will take for the permanent tooth to break through. The gum will get very, very tough and make it that much harder to push the tooth through. He said she will most likely lose all her other baby teeth first and get the permanent teeth in before she will get this permanent tooth in.

Hope this helps!

The Xrays by the DDS will show what is going on up in the gumline. You can see the permanent tooth hanging up there! That will help you relax in that the tooth is there just not ready to come in yet.
My son is a little different. he just turned 12 and I'm still waiting for the other 8 permanent teeth to come in.... Not all of them have perm teeth to push out the baby teeth. He will have baby teeth as long as they cause no problems. We also haven't see his wisdom teeth! That is one thing in his future he won't have to worry about.....I didn't either! :)
Hope this helps calm you. Hang in there....teeth will come
