We will play dance with my father-Luther Vandross and Temporyary home- Carrie underwood. Was wondering of other songs that may fit a picture cd that talk about similar theme as these. Thanks

What can I do next?

i like

"keep me in your heart for awhile" warren zevon (its a little popular lately but is perfect wording)

they played "arms of an angel" at my dads funeral, sweet but i did not think it was really good for him. This is an irish one ive always loved.~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~The Parting Glass
Of all the money that ere I had, I spent it in good company.
And of all the harm that ere I've done, alas was done to none but me.
And all I've done for want of wit, to memory now I cannot recall.
So fill me to the parting glass. Goodnight and joy be with you all.
Of all the comrades that ere I had, they're sorry for my going away,
And of all the sweethearts that ere I had , they wish me one more day to stay,
But since it falls unto my lot that I should rise while you should not,
I will gently rise and I'll softly call, "Goodnight and joy be with you all!"
Oh, if I had money enough to spend and leisure time to sit awhile
There is a fair maid in this town that sorely has my heart beguiled
Her rosey cheeks and ruby lips, she alone has my heart in thrall.
So fill me to the parting glass. Goodnight and joy be with you all
I always loved this beautifully written and sung song by Brad Paisley
"When I get where I'm going"
Start of lyrics
When I get where I'm going
on the far side of the sky.
The first thing that I'm gonna do
Is spread my wings and fly.
I'm gonna land beside a lion,
and run my fingers through his mane.
Or I might find out what it's like
To ride a drop of rain
(Chorus:)
Yeah when I get where I'm going,
there'll be only happy tears.
I will shed the sins and struggles,
I have carried all these years.
And I'll leave my heart wide open,
I will love and have no fear.
Yeah when I get where I'm going,
Don't cry for me down here.
... and it continues on from here. This song is just so beautiful I cry everytime I hear it. Best wishes for a beautiful funeral for your father.
Temorary home is so good! Love it! "You're beautiful" by Phil Wickam is a great song as well. I also love the classic "I'll fly away" and "hush".
Oh, and I am so sorry for your loss. Sorry I didn't add that at first.
I love Carol G's suggestion... that song makes my heart swell every. single. time... On a side note, and this is SO nontradtional, when my godfather passed away, he had specifically written into his will that at the end of his memorial service, he wanted a jazz band to play 'When the Saints Come Marching In'... THAT WAS SO TYPICAL OF HIM!! We all had a good laugh between tears. Depending on who your father was (well, IS), if he had any kind of sense of humor, you might even want to do a little something upbeat at the end, something you could play knowing he's smiling down on everyone listening to it. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss; may angels lead him in :)
