Son Is Always Sick - Chicago,IL

My 1 year old son was hosptialized at 2 & 4 months with a cold & RSV & because of this difficulty at a young age the Doctor diagnosed him with asthma. I know he doesn't have what I feel is asthma but everytime he gets a cold I do have to resort to Nebulizers because he wheezes. He is always sick. We are at the doctor at least monthly with random viruses such as impetigo, scarlett fever, ear infections, etc. Three weeks ago he had a lower repiratory infection, this week he has an upper respiratory infection. I just feel like he's had every sickness a child can obtain. I have had him allergy tested (blood test, not scratch) and he came back completely clear.
Here's my question... is there anything I can do to prevent these things? I am careful to feed him fruits & vegetables at every meal. When I take him places, I am careful to sanitize things such as grocery carts. I keep my house clean & use lysol to sanitize his toys, crib, etc. He takes a multivitamin.
He has a brother who is 2 and I realize kids get sick, but his brother is barely sick.
Any mom's have any advice?

What can I do next?

Try getting him adjusted at a chiropractor. He might have something out of alignment that is not allowing things to flow through his body properly.

hello
my son who is now 8 had what they call childhood Asthma.. we used the nebulizers twice daily . He too seems to get colds frequently.. In addition, had Meningitis about 2 1/2 yeas ago. However, eventually he did outgrow the Asthma and hasn't needed the medicine for about 2 years. (kids can outgrown it) also.. What part of the problem was could be for your son are DUST MITES.... at the time my son was diagnosed as being allergic to the mites, he was too young to be tested for allergies. Our Pedi-Allergist said that a child has to experience several seasons before you can truly know the extent of their allergies.. Back to the dust-mites. since finding out about this, we purchased the plastic bed-lining for the mattress, boxframe and even his pillows.. Additionally, he takes Zyrtec once daily and that has helped TREMENDOUSLY.. I have experimented with NOT giving it to him because I don't like him taking meds.. even if it's a small dose.. but when I don't, he awakens and will have a runny nose and sneezing..
Can you see an allergist? again, your son is too young to be tested for much.. could be as simple as dustmites.. who knew they could wreak so much havoc. Also, we have hardwood floors which we clean ALL the time and vacum a lot as well so that dust is limited. So far, all of this has helped enormously..
I wish you the best.

are either in day care or pre-school. The baby is getting sick from things the 2 year comes into contact with mostly. As he gets older he should get sick less.. are you breastfeeding him... this helps sometimes.. if not.. keep him on baby formula and baby food a little longer... because of all the good stuff in them... Is his vitamin dr. prescribed... the over the counter aren't as good as the one you get from the dr.. good luck... He should hopefully grow out of it.. Take him outside a lot in the fresh air.. open his window a little each day.. to keep it aired out..

i had a lot of the same issues with my son that you are having and he is now 9 and we found out over the summer that he has IgA Deficiency which means part of his immune system doesnt work and the way we found out was through the allergist she had him tested and when it was positive she sent us to an immunologist for it i think i would have you little one tested its a blood test..my son has to now wear a medic alert bracelet because if he were to need blood products he would need iga deficient or triple washed blood products because it can cause a severe allergic reaction if not given those kind of blood products...

Hi, I have an 18 year old son and a 12 yo stepson, both have had ear tubes to relieve the fluid build-up. When kids are little the ear tubes are not level and the tubes that are put in help get rid of the fluid. The kids both heard better and didn't have any problems. My son had his first set at 4 and then at 7. My stepson had his first set at 6 and again at 9. My daughter had her first set at 2 and is 4 and has been fine since. It's an in and out surgery and the tubes fall out when they are no longer needed(usely unnoticed they are so small). Both boys were always sick, also if you smoke this helps to keep illness going. Just something to check into. Hope your little guy feels better soon, good luck. H.

My kids are rarely sick. Per the doctor, I give them daily probiotics and at that age, 1,000 IU a day of Vitamin D3. The 400 IU that they recommend is WAY low. Almost all Americans are severely deficient in it.

Also, a daily dose of fish oil will help with the inflammation causing the asthma.

Oh, and I second the recommend for chiropractic. Not sure where in Chicago you are, but there is a wonderful one in Oak Park who specializes in pediatrics. Dr. Sean Manning. Adjustments on children are much gentler than on adults.

It's most likely the chemicals that you use in your house. I would love you to see the chemical free products I use. They will really help out you and your family. I know someone who uses the products that are chemical free because their own son had asthma and now he has improved himself. Let me know if you would like to know more?

Probiotics, found in supplements, yogurt, breastmilk.
