Son Is 9 Months Old and Still No Teeth!

Any other moms out there with a child that STILL didn't get any teeth? I keep thinking it will be "today" but that day still hasn't came yet!

What can I do next?

I didn't read the other responses, but my niece is 17 months and she just got her first tooth a couple of months ago! She was well over a year! They all get them eventually, don't worry! My niece is getting a lot all at once now, so I think if they start coming in later than normal, then they come in all at once!

I have a friend whose kids are almost a year and a half before getting teeth. Seems to me books say 7 to 17 months is average. My kids tend to beat the average on the other side. It's funny because my friend and I laugh about how funny each other's kids look to us being on such extreme sides of things. Be patient. They'll come in. :)

The same thing happened with DS...every day from about 3 mo's on I thought "Today is the day!". He didn't get teeth until 14 mo's. Sometimes good things take time :-)

I wouldn't be too concerned. My daughter didn't get her first teeth until close to 14 months, but that didn't stop her from eating solids at all! She is 2.5 now and we are still waiting on some molars.

I wouldn't worry too much. I have a 21 month old that still doesn't have all the teeth that my other children had at her age and she has been getting them in a wierd way. She got the bottom 2 teeth, then none for about 3 months, then she got molars one right after another until she had 4 and then about 3 months later she got the top 2 teeth. Then we have been on a holding pattern. She is just now getting another tooth so now she has 3 in the front on the bottom plus 2 molars and 2 top front with 2 molars there too. My other children were the classic get 2 on the bottom then 2 on the top and then move out from there in 2s. If you are really concerned about it then check with your doc.....but maybe he is like my DD. I thought that she was teething her top 2 teeth and come to find out she was getting those molars instead....Have you checked to see if maybe he has some somewhere else in his mouth? Good luck to you.

Teeth can take a while to come in. My youngest just got her 1st tooth after she turned 9 1/2 months and now, at almost 11 months she has 4. They'll come!

Make it a GREAT day!

I have twin boys that are 9 mths old. One has 6 teeth (4 upper and 2 lower), and the other one has not a single one that has come thru yet! But that doesn't keep him from chewing on everything he can find! lol... actually, the one without teeth seems happier about chewing bits of food than the one WITH teeth! Go figure... ;-) They all go thru things at their own rate, so I wouldn't worry about it too much. Be careful about sweets though, my aunt gave my cousin juices and kool-aid in her bottles (who would do that??!!) and she didn't have teeth until she was almost two and the ones that came in had major cavities. Needless to say, she is now an adult and has had severe dental problems her entire life.

Lucky you! One of my least favorite chores is brushing everybody's teeth at bedtime. Enjoy the reprieve!
