Son Decided to Make It Snow in Florida at His Grandparents' House
On Friday, my parents walked into my kids' bedroom to see that he had gotten a hold of the baby powder and it was all over the room and himself. Later that day he developed a hoarse voice. Well, today is Sunday and is voice is still hoarse. He has had no trouble breathing and he is eating and drinking fine, basically his health appears normal, except for his voice. Has this happened to anyone before, if so how long did it take for his/her voice to return to normal?

Yikes, get him in to Urgent Care IMMEDIATELY! You don't want to mess with anything like that getting trapped in his lungs. Talc sometimes can have additives like aluminum, asbestos like matter and can do some serious harm to lungs. Most pediatricians NOW recommend against using talc on babies for this reason. If he has enough stuff in his lungs he could develop pneumonia, collapsed lung or other respitory issues. Don't mess around!
Here's more on why talc is dangerous/deadly.

I agree with the others, take him to the doctors. Thing about breathing problems, they have to be pretty bad to catch it with watching him. My son has asthma and when I took him to a pediactric allergist, I was shocked how low his oxygen level actually was because he was an active child, always running and bike riding. Your son may not having a noticable problem with his breathing but his oxygen level may be down. This is one of those better safe then sorry things.

I agree, definitely take him to the doctor! His voice is probably hoarse from his airways swelling. Inhaling baby powder can also cause pneumonia, and in serious cases it can damage the lungs and cause lung disease. There have been deaths from inhaling baby powder too- so it is not something to take lightly. Plus, there is a possible link to cancer. Get rid of all of the baby powder so there's no risk of it happening again. Better to be safe than sorry.

Call your doctor. It seems weird because baby powder was such a standard baby supply for ages. But about a dozen years ago, they told parents to stop using it because it can be inhaled and trapped in the lungs. At first they said talc was better but I think that is on the bad list now too.
