Some Good New for the Weekend!

So I posted a few weeks ago that my mom had been told by her doctor that she was in the 2nd stage of Alzheimer or Dementia. Well, she got the test results back from the nurse on the phone yesterday, and the MRI said her brain is fine and looks completely normal! Yippee!! So, we obviously have a lot of research and other testing to figure out what is going on with her memory loss, but I think it is probably a malnutrition thing because she is allergic to so many things and lives on coffee with Sweet-n-Low and milk.

I was just so happy about this I had to share. I know I have to ask a question, so here it is: What good news or happy thoughts have you had lately?

What can I do next?

Stevia is NOT artificial. It's made from the stevia plant. It is as natural as sugar but without the calories.

My really happy news. My alcoholic brother apparently tried to quit drinking cold turkey. He was taken to ER with dts and hallucinations. Dr said if he'd come in an hour later he'd probably died. He was in ICU the maximum allowed of 3 weeks. Moved to general care still hallucinating and combative. Medical staff said we should find ongoing care for him and gain guardianship. Now 6 weeks later he's back home taking care of himself, no longer hallucinating. He still doesn't accept that all of his hallucinations were not real. Overall he's back to being the brother I know minus the alcohol.

Another good thing. The police sent him to the ER. He'd called scared twice to report an intruder.

That is great news and something to be excited about. I do hope your mom's Dr.'s do figure out what is going on and she will be able to have a full recovery. Wonderful news!!

As for our weekend, we had happy hour at the club with the regulars last night, today we are working on the house and yard, I am getting ready to fly out of town on Wednesday for 2 family reunions next weekend, I am busy as a bee working to make sure I have everything up to date with our company so I can leave my laptop at home while I am gone!! I think I might go shop a little and figure out what I will wear to the reunions because the weather has changed on us and I need a backup plan! Good productive and fun weekend here!

Good! Get RID of the sweet and low! That stuff is horribly toxic to the neurological system and is surely contributing to any symptoms!

ETA: I was on my way to an MS diagnosis when I realized the connection between my symptoms and the days I drank diet drinks. When I cut them out, all my symptoms went away. And while Stevia is "natural," I don't trust any of them any more. Even Agave syrup, which is natural, is terrible for you.

That's great to hear!! I have pretty severe long term memory loss and neurologists are trying to figure out what's going on. Losing your memory is scary!

Today I'm grateful for the weather. I live in Phoenix where it's 107 degrees but I'm in the Pacific Northwest right now and it's a cool, rainy, get cozy in bed with a book kind of day.

So glad your news was good! Ruling out stuff that can't be fixed is a reason to celebrate!

I just got back from the Fort Worth Botanical Gardens. It was a 77 degree day in July in Texas! Unheard of! God blessed us today!

Get rid of the sweet and low and she'll be fine. HONESTLY!!

Artificial sweeteners are linked to all sorts of symptoms and looking like Alzheimer's is one of them. I'm not joking. Tell her to use real sugar but if she's diabetic to limit it.

My friend that was a severe diabetic couldn't get her blood sugars under control at all, she'd stopped eating to the point she was maybe getting 500 calories per day. Her metabolism had very nearly stopped working and she was dying. Her blood sugars, fasting, were in the 500 range.

She got a new diabetic doc and he told her to stop eating and drinking any items that had any artificial sweeteners in them. That she could have sugar and butter and whole milk, normal foods. To count the carbs and keep them below a certain amount.

Within a few months her blood sugars were almost completely normal all the time. She lost weight, got off oxygen, started going places and having a life.

I did a lot of research on this topic due to her success, I have horrible migraines with artificial sweeteners so I was interested in the why behind how they were causing so many issues.

The sweeteners are horrible poison for our bodies and each of us react differently. Some can't get their blood sugars under control, others have migraines and this can run in families, and others seem to have dementia like symptoms.

Please ask her to test it. See if she gets better with 6 months off the artificial stuff. And I don't have any research on Stevia or other newer artificial stuff. If it's not whole real sugar then it's not sugar, period. Calling it as I see it.

I think your mom will be back to normal. Just try it, scientific experiment. That's all.

That's wonderful news! I am so happy for you & your family!

I am grateful for every day I wake up. Sometimes I lose sight of that as
the days wears on & I'm tired by day's end. Then I go to bed, wake up
& watch all the terrible things on the news that happened overnight & I
am reminded, yet again, how fortunate I really am. Reminded to be oh
so very grateful!!!! And I am! Thankful for my family, my friends, the
day, the cool breeze, the sunshine, the kids' laughter, their smiles, my
friends' advice when I need it, the birds singing, the happy "hellos" from
other early morning walkers!

M., I'm so glad your mom received better information and that you can cross a few scary items off your list.

This week I am just feeling very thankful for the people in my life. I don't know that I could do it without them. :) They give my life a lot of richness and meaning, it's a blessing.

That's great news! Besides getting on a better diet, tell her to stop using Sweet-n-low or ANY artificial sweetener...they are poison for our bodies. It is better to just use a little sugar...or learn to like coffee without sugar added. My mom gets horrible memory loss any time she is stressed. She is a very anxious person and add stress to her life and she suddenly has insomnia every night and completely loses her short term memory. I used to think she was getting dementia, but now I see a pattern. One the stress goes away she goes back to her normal self again.

M.,

That is wonderful news for your mom and your family! Dementia in all varieties is horrible and heartbreaking. Glad that this is not what's going on with your mother. Perhaps a consult with a registered dietician can help guide your mother to healthier eating habits. Definitely worth a try.

My happy thoughts? I got to spend some time with some of my best friends tonight. I'm so grateful for them and wish everyone had at least one friend like that!

Happy for you and your good news!
