Soccer Question About Preschool Boys
My son is 4 years old. This is the first time he has played a sport. I asked the coach what my son could wear under his soccer shorts when it is cold and he told me leggings. I have googled it and can't find anything about boys leggings. Can someone please tell me what boys generally wear under their shorts when it is cold out? Thanks so much!

Bike shorts/pants, of which they come long too. It is warm.
Or, Thermals
By 'leggings', the Coach means, bike shorts/pants or thermal type things.
Just Google Search "athletic leggings for boys." Or "bike pants for boys."
Then these won't look girly.
It is for athletes.
Or try "athletic leg warmers for boys." Google search. There is such a thing. Athletes wear them.

When my 4 yo was in soccer, he just wore his regular play clothes. Good luck finding whatever you need, though!

You can go to Dick's Sporting Goods and spend a ton of money on under-armor...or you can just go buy a pair of black girls leggins and put those on him. No one will know the difference.
Our daughter play U7 Competitive...we bought the under-armor (I will not tell you how much that put us back)...but she will be playing for at least two weeks. I would not spend the that kind of money for rec ball or U5.
Or you can put some sweats on underneath...if it's rec ball as long as his uniform is showing it shouldn't be a problem. I coached rec last year and we had no one say anything to kids with sweats on underneath.

How cold is cold in Texas? Tomorrow my son has a game (he is 6) at 9am. It's going to be about 38-42 degrees. He is going to wear shorts. When they are that little they have on their shorts and then their shinguards and socks which pretty much take up the rest of their legs. I wouldn't worry about leggings. My son does wear a long sleeve shirt under his soccer shirt if he thinks it's going to be too cold though.

How cold does it get there? My feeling is that your son will be plenty warm between practicing & playing a soccer game. I don't really think the leggings are necessary, to be honest. He will be wearing long shorts with shin guards & socks, and most of his legs will be covered, anyway. What about his top half? Could he wear a thermal or Under Armor type shirt underneath his regular jersey?

Think those skin tight pj bottoms. In solid colors.
But know:
cleats
socks, shin guards, socks (because they roll over)
shorts & underwear
long sleeve shirt
jersey
And even in freezing, snowy/rainy weather your toddler will be STEAMING, and stripping clothes OFF because he's too hot. Just bring a pair of sweatpants to pull on afterward, and a zip off jacket to wear to/zip off at practice.

Can't say for sure with guys but I can tell you what girls wear. Okay I know what boys and girls wear. Granted my kids played competitive or club ball. You don't wear anything under the shorts. To stay warm you wear a turtle neck under the jersey. Depending on how serious you want to be he needs a sweat suit if they still call them that. The pants must be break away. That way they can put them on on the sidelines but rip them off when they go back in.
I can't remember if this is just girls but they make a sweat band, again I don't know if they still call it that, with what looks like ear muffs built in.
Thing is these are to abide by club regulations. With a four year old I see no reason why he couldn't just put a pair of sweat pants under his shorts. Not that I don't find herd ball fun to watch it isn't really soccer yet. :)
