Soccer, Baseball, Karate "Lessons"

Can anyone give me tips on getting my very energetic 4 year old son involved in soccer, baseball, or karate lessons in the Wylie area?

What can I do next?

Try Karate for Kids. It's in Murphy, off of 544, next to Albertsons. Many of my friends have children taking lessons there and they love it!

Hi L.,

We used to live in Sachse, and my son played soccer and t-ball in Wylie. The spring soccer has already started, but they will have a fall season. The website is www.wyliesoccer.org. Not sure if T-ball has already had registration or not, but you can go to www.wyliebaseball.org for info. The games usually start at the end of April. Even if you have missed registration you may still be able to join if you call and speak with the T-ball board member. Both leagues are very good, and your son is sure to enjoy.

Hi there, we live in Murphy and have a 4 year old boy...We have signed him up for T-Ball through Plano Baseball Association (planobaseball.org). They usually form teams based on geography, so you would probably be practicing close to home. Soccer sign-ups for Wylie, Richardson and Plano have all closed for spring soccer, so you will have to wait on that sport until fall. There are 2 places I know of that provide karate lessons in our area: there is a karate school at the corner of Murphy Rd and 544 (next to Albertson's) and at classes are taught at EC Athletics (NW corner of 544 and Los Rios).

Hope this helps!

Karate For Kids by Albertson's on FM 544 is a great school.

The instructors are nice. They focus on discipline and respect. My son, who has ADHD (so very active also) has been going there for more than a year now.

They have a 3 week special to try if you and your son like it or not before committing.

Great site to find everything about kids (activities, summer camps, daycare, etc...)

If you live in Allen you can go to http://www.allensports.org/ or if you live in Plano you can go to http://www.psaplano.org/
My daughter has played several different sports in ASA. Several people go to Plano because the PSA is better from what I hear. I would rather my money go to the community I live in, that is why we stuck with ASA. Plus, there is nothing wrong with ASA.
Hopefully this helps.

Hey L.,

I have coached little one's in soccer. I would take him to a soccer game, baseball game, and or karate lessons to check them out. Make sure that the games or lessons he sees are with youngster's like himself. Let him decide what he would like to do. My personal preference is to allow him only to play one sport or activity at a time. This young they need to learn to focus. Playing more than one activity at a time will overwhelm him and you. JMO.

Good luck!
