goodmorning my son who is 4 has just now asked to play soccer. I know we have to wait for spring signups but we live in keller and want just a relaxed place to become involved with. Has anyone used the ymca on beach for soccer or anyother suggestions would be awesome. I want to have just like one practice and 1 game a week My friends son is in tball and they have 2-3 practices a week plus 1-2 games a week. I don't want that at all. I have two boys and am going to be doing this for twenty more years and don't want that kind of schedule right now. Thanks in advance.

What can I do next?

You might try Soccer Tots... My 3 yo daughter does it and loves it! They have skills training and leagues.

My older son plays soccer with Keller Soccer Association, and it's one practice and one game per week. Four year olds play three-on-three, with no goalie, on a small field. It's been a lot of fun!

I would recommend against that particular ymca. This is our first season to play there and have just had a horrible experience. Dan, the manager or whatever he is, is just flat out rude and egotistical. My other son played with blue sky when he was 3 and we loved it. I also have a daughter that played on a city rec team where we used to live and it was great. If I were you, check with either blue sky or kya. I am pretty sure they only allow one practice and one game per week unless there's a rainout.

My son is 4 and plays soccer with KSA. We have been extremely impressed. Our coach has fun with the kids and emphasizes them learning basic skills while having fun. Everyone plays equal time regardless of ability. The teams only have 6 kids, they play 3-on-3 so they really get a sense of team. (Everyone's attendance and contribution is very important with such a small team.) They also offered a free workshop this Fall with FC Dallas players. My son really enjoyed that as well. Overall, it's been a wonderful experience for my son!

My kids played with the Y on Beach at that age; it was well run, we liked the coaches, games are at the Blue Sky fields on Golden Triangle so very convenient. We practiced 1 day a week (1 hr), typically 1 game a week. Of course if there are cancellations due to weather you might have some double headers or weeknight games. At the Y the teams are co-ed, for that age there are no goalies.

We now play with Keller Soccer Assoc (KSA) and have been very happy with it. My daughter is 7 and practices once a week (1 hr) with one game on the weekends. They also play over near Blue Sky at the KSA league fields across from Blue Sky. Teams are not co-ed with KSA.

I have friends whose 9 year old plays for North Ft. Worth Soccer, not co-ed, they play games behind Fossil Ridge HS. They practice once a week, but it's for 2 hours. They've been relatively happy with it, but I think would move if their son wasn't so committed to his team.

My son just turned 5 and we are in our second season at Blue Sky in Keller. We started when he was 4. We love it. One practice during the week and one game on the weekend. We play indoor so weather is not an issue. This was a big deal for us because we have 6 month old twins that come along. The coach we have this year is amazing! Last year was pretty good too, but it was her first year to coach and I'm sure she'll get better. There is no goalie and they don't keep score. The team building and skills learned are great. I highly recommend it.

My son, 4, played his first season of any organized sport (soccer) at the Northpark YMCA this past spring. We are now on our 2nd season of t-ball there and have no complaints. There is only one game each week and practice schedules are up to the individual coaches. My husband coaches, and we only hold one practice for 45 min to an hour each week. We have no experience with other organizations, but we do like that "Y". Good luck!!!
