Soaking Through Diapers

Try using a premium diaper at night (if you aren't already - like Huggies Supreme) I had to do that with my son, as well. Another thing to try, if the premium diapers still won't hold it is something called a "diaper doubler". I have seen them in Publix, but they can be found most anywhere diapers are sold. They are an extra absorbent pad that goes into the diaper, thus "doubling" the absorption capacity of the diaper. They may be a cheaper alternative to upgrading your diaper.

My son is almost 6 months old and I have the same exact problem. He goes to bed at the same time also. What I have found works best is before I go to bed I just change him, usually about 10 or 11 and he makes it through the night without leaking. I was going to try to night time diapers but he isnt big enough for those yet. That is the only thing that has worked for me so far. He goes right back to sleep after I change him. If I find any other way I will definetely let you know though, cause I know its awful having to wash sheets every night!! Good luck!! Hope this helps :)

Oh my gosh! LUVS Rock! I swear by those diapers! I used them with both of my boys! They are cheaper and NEVER leak.

Hi, R.. You've got lots of responses but thought I'd just give you one more. My son use to do the same thing and the only diaper I found that wouldn't leak was Pampers Baby Dry. They're about the same price as Huggies and if you sign up online at Pampers.com they will send you coupons by mail which can help save some cash. Another tip - layer your crib sheets. Put down a mattress pad, then a sheet and then another mattress pad, then another sheet. I usually put 4 layers on my son's mattress just in case his diaper were to leak. If it does, then I just pull off the top layer and there is already a clean mattress pad and sheet there for nap time. It saves a lot of time and trouble even if there are no leaky diapers and it's just time for a clean sheet!

Had the same problem with my son...and I tried EVERY diaper on the market..the only one that worked was Luvs. And they are cheaper. You can also try the "diaper doubler" it works well too. Good luck, I know this isn't fun:D

i have 3 kids and 1 on the way and the only diapers i will use is LUV'S they will deffinatly hold thru the night!!!!

I have boy/girl twins and Pampers diapers seem to do the best with both of them. I had the same problem with both of mine and it really didn't resolve itself completely until we stopped giving them a bottle before bed (11 months).

You have had a lot of responses to your question! I guess this is a hot topic! The only think that worked for us at nighttime (I have one son, one daughter) is to double diaper. I put the regular Huggies on and then I put the cheapest off brand diaper I can find on top of that, just like you would put on the first diaper. Then, I put a pair of those plastic pants on top and then PJ's.

Luvs never worked for us- they leaked BIG time. Not worth the hassle at ALL!!

Both of my kids were big soakers at night.

It sounds silly but try putting a maxi-pad inside his diaper. It will add another layer of absorbency.

I haven't been a mom for long but my son is almost 1 year and we went through the same thing. Huggies just don't fit my son the way they should fit him...so we use Luvs and Pampers and love them. We put his night time diaper on about 10-11 pm and he gets up between 7-8 and I never change sheets and he never leaks.

I have the same problem and the only thing I can tell you is stopping giving him anything to drink before 7 give him an hour or two to see if he wets himself and then out a fresh diaper on and see if that works any better for you.

My son also wears Huggies diapers, and sometimes he will soak through them, too. He's a big drinker! ;) Even in the daytime (especially in the morning) if I don't change him an hour or so after breakfast (I have another little one, and sometimes I forget), he'll wet straight through his diaper! I had no luck with Pampers with him, and haven't tried any other diapers since he was a baby (he's two now).

Now I just try to limit his drinking right before bed, and always change him one last time before he goes to sleep. And, I try to be very good about changing him frequently in the daytime (especially in the morning when he tends to drink and wet more)! A friend of mine swears by Luvs (and they're cheaper), but I just haven't tried them yet!

I found that Pampers and Huggies were more absorbant than the cheap diapers. I used the cheap ones (white cloud) for nap time since he's soak through by morning in those. You're already using Huggies so try another of the diapers in the Huggies line. Try calling the Huggies hotline for ideas too. They will make a few suggestions and will also send you coupons. Make sure his Penis is pointing downward when you put his diaper on. My little boy had issues where if I left it pointing up, we would end up with the same situation. Good luck, I will give it some thought today and see if I can remember what else we did to remedy the problem. My little boy is 4, so it's been a while. Good luck.

I don't have any experience with this. Perhaps you could try making sure that he gets his last bottle an hour before he goes to bed, then change his diaper right before putting him to bed.

And maybe in the meantime you could get some of those plastic diaper covers to put over his diaper at night so that his sheets don't get so wet.

You may also want to ask his pediatrician or just call the nurse. Wetting that much may be a sign of a bladder problem. My daughter is 16 months old and wears a size 4. She's never soaked through her diaper before.

I had the worst time with Pampers and leaks. A friend suggested that I try the Parents Choice from Walmart. I have used them ever since. To save myself from washing tons of sheets, I bought a couple of incontinent pads at Walmart (I think they are in the isle with pillows and mattress covers and stuff) and I put them on top of the sheets.

I've only used the Huggies a few times but they always seemed to leak with my son. He wears the Pampers Baby Dry and never has a problem.

diaper doublers from Publix. they are great, they're like $3 for a pack of 30 and they really do the trick. my son goes to sleep with a cup so by morning he was always wet and i use those now. also put a sheet on the bottom of his mattress and then one on the top so if he does wet his bed then you can just pull the wet sheet off and flip the bed

We had this problem when my son was a few months old and I have found changing him 10-15 mins after his last bottle and right as he goes down helped but we cvhanged to pamper cruisers and I love them.
Plus you can almost always find coupons for them.
They are about the same price as huggies. We just wasn't able to do the huggies without the problem you are having now. I will say uping the size was a good idea and if that hasn't helped try pamper cruiser just make sure you get cruiser and not the dry's there is a big difference.

Had the same problem with my son...both my girls could only use pampers but he couldnt so I tried huggies no luck either,so I tried Luvs, and they worked! And they are cheaper!! Good Luck! I know its no fun!

Looks like you have already gotten a lot of great responses. I with the Pampers gang - My son leaks out of anything that didn't come from a Pampers box. I think that the coverage is higher in the front.
I loved the MaxiPad suggestion, but I think my husband would probably freak out! Good luck!

My son had this probkem at night also, the only diapers I could use were Pampers or Huggies, I hated LUVS, he would soak right through them, even in the daytime . My mom had suggested I put a cloth diaper in his pamper just at night to keep him from soaking through his clothes, it worked for us. Hopefully you will find something that will help!!

I have a girl but we had the leak problem and tried everything!!! The luvs worked for us!

Huggies leaked with my boys, so I had to change to Pampers in the green box. No problems after that!!!!

Try a different brand of diapers and we had to change my daughter's diaper when we went to bed. She rarely woke up enough not to go right back asleep. It may take a little longer for you to go to bed, but it will be worth it in the morning.

My daughter did the same thing. I actually went up to a nightime 5. (Huggies) She stayed in a 3 during the day, but I went to a five thanks to the suggestion of my boss, who had a grandson with the same problem. Try the 5's. My daughter grew out of wetting thru in about six months. Good Luck.

I forgot to mention that we used size 4 overnights and my dauther wet thru them too. The size 5 will seem huge, but it will be much more absorbent. I actually didn't even have to use overnights in the size 5. My boss's grandson did. Also, I used cheap diapers one time. I ended up giving the rest away. They were terrible.

Okay....my sister had this problem too and was asking me what to do and the solution ended up being simple for her. She was not pointing his "area" as we call it, down as she put the diaper on and it was soaking up into the diaper and overflowing rather then down into the diaper and using the back to saok into also. Maybe you already do this and if so, I have no other solutions!

I had the same problem with Huggies soaking through at night. I switched to Luvs and the problem went away.
