Hi ladies. This is my problem. My daughter has left numerous loads of wet laundry in my washing machine and it has developed a mildew smell. Ive tried filling it with water and pouring large amounts of bleach and pine-o-pine (on seperate occasions) in it and letting it sit over night. But the smell is still there. Does anyone know of a product that will take this stink out of my machine? Or maybe a home remedy? All ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

What can I do next?

I got to say distilled vinegar its the best to get rid of mildew and odors. I'd try 1 cup of HOT vinegar, cook in the microwave or heat up on the stove until it boils and pour into a full load of hot water and run through a cycle with a white small towel, the towel grabs whatever junk is sitting on the inside. I use vinegar in our loads my husbands a chef and his clothes sometimes can really stink up the machine from combintion of food and sweat. You might want to open a window when you heat up the vinegar. Good Luck!

Vinegar and baking soda (separately or together--together is good for scrubbing) are good for neutralizing odor.

Vinegar! A cup in the next load of wash should do it. It also helps to keep towels absorbant.

Hello,

We have the upright machine and ours started to do that as well. So we did the whole baking soda thing and it just kept comming back. Well I finally got fed up and ask the SEARS guy and he said to run a cycle with the baking soda/vinger then from now on leave the door open for a little while after each load. That the rubber seal hold water so I dry that out as much as I can then I leave it cracked and pull the soap dispeaneser open. Then later when I go back in there go I close it. It has not happend since I started doing that! Good Luck!

My machine gets smelly also. I have found the best remedy is lots of baking soda. Do an empty hot cycle and put in a good cup of baking soda. Add a cup of vinegar to the rinse cycle and it should do the trick.
