I put 2 big pork loins in a new slow cooker (big oval one) for dinner tonight. I promised a neighbor that I would drop off dinner b/c his wife has been out of town all week..... they are NOT cooked 9they've been in on high for 3 hours). What can I do?

Can I nuke them (in the microwave) and then put them back in to shred and put the BBQ sauce on?? Should I pull them out (2.14 lbs each) and cook them in the oven and just slice it.... how long would it have to cook? I'm horrible in the kitchen and if I hadn't promised this guy dinner I would just let it cook for as long as it needs and serve something else for dinner... Can anyone PLEASE help me?! thank you!!

What can I do next?

DO NOT COOK IT IN THE MICROWAVE!

place it in the oven on 350 for about an hour. If you have meat thermometer test to see that the center is 170.. if not place it back in the oven for another 20 minutes.. It will not shred, but it will be delicious sliced..
They could place it on buns with BBQ sauce and it will be really really good.

I would pull them out, cut off the portion that you are bringing to the neighbor, slice it, pop it in the oven and let if finish up there. Then shred, sauce and serve.

Once you cut into them, you will see how pink they still are, and be able to judge the time from their color. Slicing them, then putting them in oven would reduce the cooking time - keep the meat covered so it stays moist and does not dry out.

I would not recommend the microwave - that would probably make them tough and dry.

Or, you could always just spring for take out. LOL

Good Luck

Pat them dry with paper towels-put a little olive oil on them=put some kind of seasoning or rub on them-brown them in a little oil-get a nice dark "crust" on them-Next-put them in a pan with sauce/broth/carrots/potatoes, etc around them -have the liquid come up to almost cover them-cover the baking dish and roast at 375 for around 35 minutes-then turn them down for as much time as you can-2 hours??? This braising will make the meat very tender and worth the wait!

Just another note about the microwave and why not....The crock will be VERY Hot and I think it might break the glass plate and cause other problems for the microwave. Using the oven to finish it off is the best idea.

Red Flag Words..new.. slow.. cooker. I bought a new one a few weeks ago and it is way more than SLOW. Even on high it took more than 4 hours to feel warm to the touch. Im not thrilled with it. I would have called the guy and either said its gonna be late,, or gone and got him something else from the store. Guess with some of these cookers we need to start them after dinner one night to plan for the next night, and hopefully it might be done by then. (o:

I see that I am quite too late to be of any help with this particular problem. But maybe for future help: I never use my slow cooker (crock pot) without planning to leave the food in for a minimum of 6 hours. I don't know if you had a recipe that gave different instructions or not, but I always count on 6 hours or more. No matter what kind of dish it is. Of course, I've never used mine to make a cake before, lol. Though there are recipes for that....
