Slippers for Toddlers?

hi all--

we are moving into a new house that has all refinished hardwood floors. i was wondering what type of slipper would be good for my 18-month-old daughter. the house is two floors, and the stairs are carpeted, but the rest of the rooms will be hardwood. i'm figuring that refinished floors won't give splinters, but i would like a good (not too expensive) non-skid indoor slipper/slip-on that she can wear (and keep her feet warm in winter). all suggestions are welcome-- thanks!

follow-up question: besides the carter socks, what are the brands of "slipper socks" do people like? thanks!

What can I do next?

Hi there - I have always liked the toddler slippers at LL Bean (very warm - non slip sole) or the ones by robbeez (not so warm but very flexible & non-slip for little feet)

Hope this helps,

I had this problem while my kids were young - for some reason they just couldn't grasp the concept of walking on a slippery floor and - unless barefoot - always needed some kind of "grippy" sole on their socks. They didn't always want slippers though - it made their foot too hot. So we always got socks with gripper stuff on the bottom - usually could find them at KMart. When I couldn't find them - I made them using Puff Paint for fabric. Just a few polkadots on the bottom of their socks worked wonders!

You can try Robeez slippers they are great. Also you can turn any pair of socks that your daughter likes into non-skid slipper socks by putting puff paint on the bottoms. A great art project for your daughter too - she get to make her own slippers!

They are a little pricey but I LOVE the Hanna Andersson moccasin socks. I get one pair for each of kids every winter. They are machine washable.

Definitely agree about Robeez. they are great and machine washable.

My kids love thier Hanna Andersson slipper socks. My toddler (11 months) wears his on our hardwood floors with no slipping.

I think slipper socks are great & they stay on better than slippers.

I tried a lot of them (slippers, socks, slipper-socks) - but my son wouldn't keep them on his feet no matter what I did. My child would walk bare foot on snow if I let him.

I agree with the slipper socks. I've bought several pairs of slippers for my child (because I wear them all the time) and not one pair has ever stayed on her feet. I don't know why but they don't.
