Slim Fast Optima Vs. Generic Slim Fast
I started drinking Slim Fast as a way to get quick full nutrition in the am since I'm so busy with my new baby girl! And if I lost some baby weight that would be great too!! (Not breastfeeding). Question- I love the Target generic slim fast and it is much cheaper but does not seem to fill me up as long as the real Slim Fast? Anyone have any experience with these kind of shakes and has it helped with any weight loss? I haven't lost anymore since I started drinking them (granted I have been walking less).

Thanks for the responses! I was mainly drinking it for a nutritional supplement, as I get low blood sugar if I don't eat and sometimes to busy to eat, but now after dipping extremely low after one yesterday, I think I am going to steer clear of those....and opt for something with some protein. And thanks robin for your response, weight gain would not be desirable!!:)

I drank those, and Boost... but I didn't notice any real difference. I didn't know if I lost my baby weight due to it going down naturally or the drink. I just drank the ones that tasted better... some has a metallic taste to them. I'm sure your obgyn has an opinion!

I recently had to buy Slim Fast and went with CVS's generic brand and found little difference in the time it keeps you feeling full. I am not drinking Slim Fast to lose weight but to gain it. I watched something on 20/20 awhile back that was accusing companies of adding something to their diet products that would increase your appetite. I had the opposite problem so didn't pay that much attention to it. One day my Doctor got really, really mad after weigh in and told me the least I could do was drink 3 Slim Fast a day & he could guarantee that I would gain or at least maintain my weight. Looking confused I said, "Isn't it supposed to do just the Opposite", he said "That's what they'd like for you to think". I tried it, it did increase my appetite and I gained 4lbs that month. My son 3 weeks ago had some dental problems and could not eat, I asked the pharmacist what he suggested and he said "Slim Fast", I asked about the other nutritional supplements, like Ensure or Boost. Pharmacist said Slim Fast is more nutritional and wouldn't explain, just said get the Slim Fast. I did get their off brand for both of us. Flavor wise it was equivalent but I did get hungry pretty fast. Son was complaining within 1 hour of drinking one, Now I'm starving & don't give me another one of those drinks because "I swear it's making me hungrier". I'm sure this is not the answer you were looking for. Maybe others will answer on here and you will get better answers. I hope so. Good Luck, R.

Hi J.,
The only real difference I've noticed between the regular Slim Fast(I get the non-Optima kind at Sam's) and the Optima is the taste. I never noticed either keeping me full/satisfied longer. Good luck in your weight loss efforts - but remember, your baby is so young! Congratulations :)

Read the labels...they should be called "Fat Fast" in my opinion due to the amount of sugar! The company I indepedently represent has a much healthier meal replacement drink. You can email me directly for more info...

J.,
As most have suggested, watch out for that stuff! It's not typically "good" for you. First of all, drink lots of water to lose the "baby fat" and exercise 30 minutes a day.
Check out Arbonne's weight loss program made from herbs and botanicals. They have protein and fiber shakes, as well as, weight loss chews and supplements. The website has a support system and plenty of recipes. Let me know if I can be of help:

If they taste about the same, you might want to check which one has the least amount of sugars in it. If they are the same, then I wouldn't think there would be a difference.
