Sleep Sack Too Short for 7 Month Old
My son is 7 months and is already too long for the sleep sacks. We live in Wisconsin, and our nights can get very cold. At the same time, keeping the heat turned up overnight can make it very warm in the house and hard to regulate in the middle of the night not knowing how warm my son is getting. Is 2 layers of sleepers/pajamas comfortable for a baby? What did you use as the next step up to a sleep sack?

They do make XL sleep sacks. Look around for them. You might need to look on the internet. I've even seen sacks that could accommodate a regular-sized 3 yo. And my kiddos are 95th % in height and could fit into the XL sleep sacks until well past 1yo.

I simply ripped the bottom seam out of the sleep sacks that were too short (but fit otherwise) and sewed on some extra material. I'm an awful seamstresses, but all it took was cutting a rectangle of fabric and sewing straight seams.

If you've used the largest sack and it's too short, they make toddler versions with foot holes that should help. You can also layer under the sleeper (I used to put DD in a long sleeved onesie and socks and then the sleeper. Make sure it's a heavier weight sleeper.

We have a little space heater by Vornado in my daughter's room for this reason.
It's completely safe. No risk of overheating, no grill to get burned on at the front, fan set way in the back in case little fingers go "exploring" in there.
It's made a HUGE difference, and now I don't worry about DD freezing at night. You can set the termperature for the room and leave it run - safely.

I can't recommend it more!

we just have our 1 year old in a sleeper with a blanket. Not a super thick blanket, but it is decently heavy. We live in Iowa, so it gets pretty cold here too. My husband wanted the heat turned up to 75/76 all day and night, but it gets super warm in the rest of the house then, so we just have our son in a sleep and a blanket or two, and he seems to do just fine - sleeps all night still.

We use a cermaic space heater that you use a dial to control the temperature in the room. They are cool to the touch. I did not notice that my daughter had a cloth bag next to it and it ran all night and part of the morning and nothing happened. We got our's at Target in 2007 in a two pack so we have one in each of our kids room then we don't have to keep the heat really hot at night.

They make an XL sleep sack and toddler sleep sacks. Those sizes may be long enough for your child. I have the size large for my 31 inch 10 month old and it fits good, but going to need to move up to the XL size soon.
