Sleep 'N Plays in the First Year

My daughter was born last month, and we have received oodles of sleep 'n plays in all sizes for her first year. I am considering taking some back to the stores as I have so many and as she gets older, I would like to dress her in more shirts/pants/dresses during the day and keep the sleep 'n plays for the sleeping at night. (Right now, she wears those during the day, but she was only born last month!) How many in each size do I really need? If she is not eating solids and making a mess in her pajamas, I am not sure how many I should have.....

Thanks!

What can I do next?

Thanks everyone! I will just keep them. I did line them up and grouped them according to the physical size as opposed to the "label" size, and I have 5ish for every inch or so in length. We're only on our first child, too, and plan to have 2-3 more, so I guess that they'll be good for the future. I just tend to stress about having too much stuff, as it seems like wasted money that could go towards stuff that we need. But as I am a working mom, too, and will be going back to work in 6 weeks, it won't be so bad to do laundry less often!

My sons lived in them for practically a year since it was so easy (granted the first was in them for 6 months, until he started daycare and the second was home with me for the first year). Regular clothes are cute but honestly, the ease of keeping them, essentially, in PJs round the clock was perfect. And they were comfortable for them to wear (no pinching or binding). Congratulations!

I would keep them. My daughter was home with daddy for her first year so she wore them all the time because it was easier to keep her in that and I don't think he cared to dress her up. With my 8 month old son, I only put him in those at bedtime but sometimes he still wets/poops through several a day so I'd always rather have too many than not enough!

I agree to keep them. They were my daughters uniform for the first 6 months! You can never have enough!

unless we were going somewhere, my dd wore them almost exclusively for the first 6 months. much easier when you're at home.

My DD #2 is only 10 days old, and we go through an average of 3 per day (between spitting up and diaper blow-outs--perhaps in part because she's still too small for the NB diapers, so they leak). With DD #3, we had about 6-8, and I got 4 or 5 more this time so I could go longer between laundry loads. Don't underestimate how quickly babies go through clothes!

I could never have enough even through the first year. Some brands fit better than others at different ages, some are a little heavier weight, some are just cuter.

We probably had 8-10 for each age as inevitably they'll spill, spit-up, poop through, etc. I like to do laundry once/week if I can as a working Mom, so that got me through the majority of the week.

People are so generous when you have a baby, but there's nothing wrong with taking gifts back if you have too many, have different preferences, etc.

My youngest is 3 months & we probably go thru 3-4 sleep n plays a day. For whatever reason, we always have blowouts and it's way easier to pull off a zippered one piece in the front versus the cute little shirts that have to be pulled up over the head. However, with my first daughter we only used them at night. So really, whatever works for you & your baby, practical & your preference. You'll get to know what works. Good luck and congrats!

Really depends on how frequently you do the laundry. If they are for PJs only, I would say 4-5 per size if you do the laundry every few days and 8-10 if you wait close to a week to do it. I never had a baby go through more than 6 outfits in a 24 hour period, usually they went through 2-3 a day, less if I had a bib that attatched to the outfit. I started putting my babies in "real" clothes instead of just sleep n' plays when they were about 3 months old, but it's really a personal preference.

Congrats on the new baby,
S.
