Skin Change with a Hard Pegnancy

I am 19 weeks pregnant, and this has been super hard pregnancy. The "morning" haha sickness has never diminished or gone away. I am loosing weight insead of gaining and i cant keep most foods down no matter what! Now I have "burn" marks that appeared on my hand, and i never burned it. I am caling them burn marks because thats what they look and feel like. They are sore to the touch and hurt when the skin is streched. We can't afford for me to go to the doctor unless i have to, so thats why i am asking if anyone knows what this could be and why it appeared. Is it because of lack of nuterants? Any advice or help would be much appriciaited! Thanks!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?™

Thank you for the responces. I kept lotion on them and they are going away. My OB does know about the weight problems and i go to him regularly, just cant afford to go every week :0) My OB and i have discussed rx meds for the morning sickness, they just make me sleep about 20 hours a day and i have a 2.5 year old to take care of. Thanks again for all your sugestions!

Jolley's Pharmacy has a pill that helped my nausea and also most everyone I reccomended it to. They created it exclusively but I can't remember the name of it. If you call them they can tell you the name and then if you contact your OB he can call you in a presciption. Good Luck!

I had an allergic reaction to an insect bite on my foot several years ago that resulted in 'burns' on my legs and arms (I was not pregnant at the time). Like you said, it wasn't a real burn, but it sure felt like it! Have you been trying different foods/drinks/supplements to help your sickness? Maybe you are having an allergic reaction or skin sensitivity. I would definitely call a nurse line as suggested, or go to your doctor. Please take care of yourself! I hope you feel better!

I have morning sickness for the whole 9 months, and I take 12 mg of Unisom, and 12 mg of Vitamin B6 (you have to buy 50 mg and cut it into fourths, and cut the unisom in half to make 12 mg) it works like a charm.

As for the rash, try to get the book What to Expect When You're Expecting from the library. I don't have it on hand right now, but they have so much information I would be surprised if they didn't have information on skin rashes and sensitivity. The nurse line is also a great suggestion. If neither of these helps, it is worth it to go to the doctor and make sure everything is okay, you and your baby's health is most important.

Sometimes, I get spots on my skin that look and feel like a burn. It is because my skin gets really dry in those areas. I use baby oil and gently dab it on the spots. Over time they go away if I'm consistent at applying the baby oil.

It would be worth finding out from your doctor, though, especially if it's never happened before. Good luck!

I'm sorry I don't have any clue what that might be. Do they itch? Make sure you are going for your regular OB appointments, though. I know that a lot of hospitals have nurse lines that are staffed 24/7, have you tried calling one of those. Children's Hospital in Denver has one if you can't find one near you.

Hi K. - I'm not sure what the "burn" marks are - maybe something to run past your doc. Does your OB know that you're losing weight and having trouble keeping food down? There are medications like Phenergan that really knock out the nausea. I took them when my nausea was so horrible. My nausea lasted my whole pregnancy although not as badly as the first 15 weeks until I took medication.

My skin definitely got dryer when I was pregnant and I would get chapped spots on my hands and my face - they kind of sound like your "burns". They would look like a little red welt sometimes a couples of inches around and they hurt. I used baby oil after a shower and Gold Bond lotion on the extra dry spots.
