Skin Care Question

I am having a very hard time finding skin care products for my "aging" skin. I am 38 years old and the wrinkles are starting to show even when I am not smiling. While it doesn't bother me a WHOLE lot I would like to find a product line that will help prevent the lines from deepening too much in the near future. I need something that will sufficiently moisturize my skin but not cause break outs (yes, pimples and wrinkles are not pretty!) I would like to keep the regimen fairly simple ... cleanser, moisturize, maybe one other step? What do you use? Any suggestions for me? Oh, and something that won't break the bank would be preferable :)

What can I do next?

Hello,

Just wondering if anybody has introduced you to Arbonne yet? I used to work in the cosmetic department in Nordstrom, Mall of America. I have tried all kinds of skin care lines and many different kinds of products, so I am very picky about what I use and the results I get.

Someone gave me a 6 day sample of the RE9 anti-aging line from Arbonne and I saw visible results in about 3 days! That was enough to get me hooked! Now I am a consultant and have several of my friends before and after pictures to prove the results. What's also great about Arbonne is that they are cutting edge products, botanically and herbal based, no chemical fragrances or dyes, no animal by-products, not tested on animals, no mineral oil, and dermatologist tested!

The RE9 anti-aging line will help wrinkles temporarily and also permanently over time. It is a professional like product, many esteticians, and dermatologists use it. The price is less than department store brands. Call me or email me if you would like to try a free sample! I guarantee you, you will see results within 3 days!

Have a fabulous day!
L. P

Hi K.,

I'm in my 30's, too, and I'm getting wrinkles. My skin is starting to be more on the dry side, but I do still get the occasional pimple.

I used to use Clinique, but it really became cost prohibitive after awhile. I found products that work just as great for a fraction of the price.

For a cleanser, I use Kiss My Face brand's Olive Oil Soap. It's like $3/bar, and moisturizing without clogging my pores. It's also just a good "full body" soap, and it's gentle enough that I even use it on my son who's 1 year old.

For an astringent, I use Witch Hazel. Witch Hazel--along with colors and dyes--is a big portion of commercial astringents, anyway. Most commercial astringents made my face feel tight and dry, but not Witch Hazel. I've seen it for sale in with the cosmetics, but here's a money-saving tip: go over to the aisle where the hydrogen peroxide and alcohol are, and you can buy Witch Hazel in a less prettier, 20 oz bottle for $2-3. (It's also great to have around the house because it's great for minor cuts, and doesn't sting like peroxide.)

For a moisturizer, I use Oil of Olay's unscented lotion w/sunscreen. Walgreen's and Target both make knock-offs of it that are just as good.

I am also looking for a new skin line. I finally found makeup that fits into my routine and seems to have helped my skin (I use Bare Escentuals). Now, I'm on the lookout for a new "aging" system. I've always used Dove soaps which are great for my skin, but I think I need more to prevent the signs of aging which are quickly appoaching. Good luck finding something. I'll keep watching this blog to see what others recommend.

Hi K.:
Have you ever heard of L'Bri Pure n' Natural Skin Care? It's a Wisconsin based natural skin care line that produces tremendous results. Aloe vera is the very first ingredient and the rest of the ingredients are multiple vitamins, minerals, herbs and botanicals. There are no artificial colors, scents and no animal testing is done on the products. What I like the best about the whole line (which is very reasonably priced) is that because there are no pore clogging oils or waxes, the ingredients are able to penetrate into the second and third layer of skin where all the damage begins, and heal your skin from the inside, out. What most people don't realize is that all the damage starts deep down in the second and third layer and most products contain ingredients that totally clog the pores which prevents any of the good ingredients from penetrating deep into the skin, so in reality, you're only cleansing and lubricating the outer layer, so it's a vicious circle. L'Bri offers free Starter Sets which contain a week's worth of the skin care (cleanser, freshener, moisturizer and eye repair gel) so you can see how your skin feels after being treated with natural ingredients. And what's even better is that because the products do not contain any water (which completely dillutes everything in the bottle), the products last for about 4 months when using twice a day. They have great anti-aging ingredients also. Let me know if you're interested in trying some complimentary samples and I'll send them out to you right away with NO OBLIGATION.

Hi K.!

When you are looking at skin and wrinkles and aging, you have to take several things into factor.
The foods you eat, if you smoke or not, how much sun you get(sun damage is a huge factor!), and of course the products that you use on your skin.

I am 44 and have the skin of a 30 year old! I have always had problems with acne, but to my surprise and completely by accident, found a fabulous skin care regimen And I get a STEEP discount to boot!

Do you take any supplements? Supplements are so important. I have found products that actually help the body from breaking down the DNA.

If you would like to know more, let me know.

God Bless!

J.

K.- I could have written your post. I'm a skin care junkie and have tried everything. I needed something good for my 'inbetween' skin... (not really 'mature' and not really 'young' either) i'm 34.

I was turned onto VotreVu which is a European skin care line sold through consultants. Its new, so there are very few in WI. I did sign up because I loved the products so much and its convenient to get my own products. When i order i usually receive it within 1-2 days (sometimes next day) They are mid-priced.

What I like about VotreVu is it is customizable. For example: I use the normal/dry cleanser/toner but then I use the mature prodcuts for the serum and creme. They have some amazing wrinkle reducer 'treats' too.

My skin has never looked better. I can even skip foundation because the tone has evened out. My husband asked me if i got botox. Ha ha. (I didnt) Its been about 2 months of use and I had one breakout (stress i think!) but it went away fast.

I would HIGHLY suggest the serums. You can add them to what you currently use even. They also make a beauty beverage that you drink 8 oz. a day. It has collagen in it since your skin loses collagen as it gets older... plus acai, teas etc..

the only thing i didnt like (even though its one of their top sellers) is the hand cream. Brilliant texture and non-greasy.. and its amazing because it has a lip balm and mirror in the cover too (clever) but it smells almondy. (not a fan)

you can check it out:

I have samples i can send you too... no pressure... I love the products so much.. :)
