Sittercity.com

Hi Girls! I just posted on Sittercity.com for a babysitter, and was just wondering if anyone had used it before. I would also like to know who you used, and how it went. I saw lots of reviews for the site (good ones), but there were no names of sitters listed. This is the first time I am going to hire someone from outside the family and I want to make sure we find the right fit. :)
I would love to hear all comments and reviews! Thanks so much!

I've used Sittercity. I felt like it gave me an adequate list of potential sitters to chose from. I lived in Oak Park at the time and had tried posting a notice at Concordia University. I didn't have much luck there - I got one sitter who couldn't handle an infant well - she was all frazzled because she couldn't handle the crying. The thing with Sittercity though is that you are solely provided with a list, profiles and contact info. You still need to check at least two childcare references and have the girls come over and interview them with your husband present so that you can both get a feel for any character flaws. We did hire one girl who got on the internet a couple of times - I was in the bedroom napping - it was at the end of my pregnancy with my second child. My 13 month old daughter at the time was left alone to break the new infant swing for my baby to be. We didn't use her again. I did find a 7th grade math teacher that we really loved. We used her a couple of times after we moved even.

Good luck!

Hi H.,

We used it and I found a very reliable sitter on there. I don't know where you live but she's in the Carol Stream area. PM if you'd like her listing/email.

I have used it several times to find a part-time nanny and was very happy with it. Most people I know who has used it also had positive experiences but some have not. Overall, I think it is worth the expense.

Where are you located? I actually did a job through sittercity.com. The kids were a nightmare, and mom bounced payment to me. If you are in the Rolling Meadows area, I have a teenage daughter if you would like to talk to her. She sits for another mom through mamasource in Schaumburg a few times a week.

We found our regular sitter through sittercity. (well, as regular as one can get when one doesn't go out regularly!) I posted a job and got a TON of replies - narrowed it down to 2 just by using my gut instinct. I ended up having a face-to-face with one after calling her references. We love her! At some point I should probably find another sitter too, since the one we use is frequently busy.

i tried to sign on to sitter city and they tried to charge 95.88 what was I missing??

Hi. I used Sittercity.com to find our "first" babysitter for our two children. We were new to the area and had no one to really turn to. I found the perfect babysitter - I did check her references and interviewed her in my home before hiring her. She left me after about a year to start her own in-home care and I take my daughter to her one day a week! I had good luck so I hope you do too.
