Sit N Stand Stroller - for What Age?

My son is 25 months old, and my 2nd is due any day. I like the idea of the Sit n Stand Stroller, but is my toddler too young for it? He is an active little boy, so in some ways it would be nice that he could easily get off the stroller and walk/run. But I'm afraid he'd be jumping off when I need him to stay on the stroller! TIA for your thoughts.

What can I do next?

I was disappointed in the Sit n Stand. After my baby outgrew his carrier, I found that the front seat doesn't have much for side support, so the baby's head would flop to the side when he would fall asleep. You also can't recline the seat very far if the older child is in the back, and the seat has a limited recline overall. Small sunshade too. I ended up getting the Peg-Perego Pliko 3 where my toddler can stand on the back. Much more comfortable for the baby and it folds like an umbrella stroller.

I didn't like my Sit-N-Stand at all. I used it with a 22-mo old (strapped in), and infant carrier. I felt like the infant was SOO far away from me, and the 2-yr old would stick his hand into the seat and bother him. It was really hard to maneuver because the weight (of the infant carrier) was so far in front, and twice the back wheels fell off while I was pushing it! (My husband is an engineer so I don't think he put it together wrong).
We ended up buying a side-by-side double jogger that I LOVE LOVE LOVE! I got it once I could put the baby in without the infant seat, the kids can't really reach each other around the middle divider, and it is super easy to maneuver. I have the BOB, which is really expensive but worth every penny, but I'm sure there are cheaper ones that are good too. I can give you more reasons the BOB is so great if you want!

We bought the Joovy, where it is a bench in the back and a seat in the front. It got old real fast. I thought it would be cool, but #1 hated being turned backward....and I liked that he could get out whenver he wanted, but it turned out to be more of a hassle.

We ended up getting the Right Start after #3 was born, which they don't seem to have anymore, but you can take the back off the back seat and transform it into a sit and stand....so far, after 2 years, we have not done that. My nearly 4 year old (#2) rides in the front when he needs a break, or if he falls asleep, we throw him in the back and our 24 month old sits in the front....or vice versa.

We travelled to New York and when it started raining, we were REALLY glad to have the double stroller with BOTH seats covered.

I have a Peg Perego Pliko 3 and I love it! I have 2 daughters that are 2 years and 9 months apart and I bought this stroller when I was no longer able to push my toddler and carry my baby in a Baby Bjorn!. They are now 4 and 7 and we used it for a trip to Disney last month! It very much has the appearance of being a single stroller, very light and easy to fold, but it has a “foot board” on the back for the older child to stand on. The older child can only stand, not sit, but it is very comfy and plenty of space for them to stand. Your son will be able to walk when he/you want him to and ride when he needs to ride. He will have to learn he needs to stay on the stroller when you tell him, but when the alternative is being strapped into a stroller, I'm sure he will stay put! I was able to buy a brand new, older color scheme online for about $100 cheaper than the retail store prices. I went to a Babies R US to check it out, folded it and unfolded it, put my children in it and then went home and ordered it much cheaper online! I bought that stroller over 3 years ago, it was the last stroller I’ve purchased and well worth every penny!

The sit and stand also has a buckle so you can strap in your toddler. I got the sit and stand when I had my second son my oldest was 3 at the time. and I loved it. I could still buckle him in when i needed to or give him that freedom of standing like a big boy.

We have the LX which only has the one front seat with removable car seat adapter. It's a little cheaper than the two seater. My second isn't due for about another month but I got it early because it was a deal and we have even tested it out with just our toddler who is 26 months. He loves it and my husband and I both think it's a great stroller. Another friend with a 3 month old and a 28 month old has the same version as me, she uses it w/o the car seat adapter now and both her kids do really well in it. There IS a seat belt on the bench seat in the back, so your toddler won't be free to get up and leave whenever he wants if you choose to strap him in. My son sounds like yours by the way, and it works for him.

My Baby Trend Sit N Stand is the Deluxe version that has 2 seats...and the rear one is removable (and super easy to do, I might add). I got it at Babies R Us last November for aroudn $160. It was by far the best investment we've made as far as having both babies (18 months apart). My kids are now 5 months and 23 months, and I have just recently removed the rear seat for my toddler. She got to the point that she was standing up in the seat, so it was safer to just let her stand like a "big girl." She loves it and its super convenient.

The new Baby Trend sit and stand strollers come with tandem sits, you remove the back one when you think your child is ready for the sit and stand option. And you can still clip your car seat on the front seat. This is the option a friend of mine chose, she didn't think her little one was ready for the freedom yet. I started using it with my son when he was almost three. I think it would have been fine to start using it earlier. We just had to teach him that he absolutely cannot get off while we are in the street or parking lot. We try to teach us to tell us when he wants off, but that doesn't always happen, fortunately we have had no accidents whatsoever. And when we are in a crowded area, I forewarn him that he must stay on the stroller. He is four and a half and we still us the sit and stand on a regular basis, could not live without it. Congrats on the new baby.

Well, my daughter is a bit older than that (almost 3) but she learned very quickly that you don't hop off the thing while moving. All it took was one time where I literally walked over her as she hopped out... never happened again.

And yes, there are straps to avoid this!

HHHMMMMM......difficult one to answer. I have a sit stand and have had it since my son was born and my daughter was 2 1/2. It was very difficult at first because she wanted to get off and on. I think that was mostly because of the novelty of it. She learned how to either sit on it or walk beside me. I love it now because it really comes in handy.

I would recommend getting one. Just be patient in the beginning.
