I will have a 3yr old when our 2nd baby is born and wondering which double stroller will be best and last the longest? Sit n stand or a front to back double stroller? Any suggestions?
thanks

I have a 3 y.o. and just had a new baby. I bought (on Craig's List) a Graco Quattro Duo b/c I wanted a big double stroller. It's huge and I can't stand it. I'm going to resell it and get the sit n stand. My 3 y.o. doesn't really sit much, but she definitely needs a place when she gets a little tired. I'm probably going to get the Joovy Ultralight asap!

Whatever you get, try it out first.

We bought a Baby Trend sit & stand and found it to be very difficult to "steer" if the terrain wasn't completely smooth & level. We sold it on consignment & replaced it with a tandem.

We had been given a side-by-side but I found it hard to handle, impossible in a crowded place, and kid #2 could too easilt torment kid #3.

When we got the tandem, I tried to get my husband to consider a used Joovy sit&stand, but he hated the baby trend one so fiercely he wouldn't even consider it.

I tried most of them.
Side by side - too big and hard to get around in tight places like shopping. I had a small umbrella one too.
Front to back double - Was ok but got hard to turn after the kids gained some weight.
Sit and Stand - by far the best one. My eldest loved being able to walk or stand or sit.

joovy sit n stand i love it. It is the best for your 3yr old because your 3 yr old will end up out growing the double very quickly.

Hi! My DD was 2 1/2 when my DS was born and I bought one of the Baby Trend Double strollers that can convert into a sit and stand. Honestly, we only used the 2nd seat once. The other times, she's wanted to sit on the jumpseat or stand up rather than sit in the stroller part. I'd probably go with a sit and stand or you can do what I did and get one that does both. (It's not crazy-expensive either).
Congrats!

I have the joovy caboose ultralite. Love it. My son who was 2.5 when my other baby was born will sit or stand and he's great on the back. very easy to turn. and light weight.

Sit N Stand. We had a Graco front/back double. I hated it. Storage was small & hard to access. I wish I didn't buy it. I love the sit n stand, though it is hard to steer (but no stroller is perfect). I was afraid my 2 1/2 yr. old wouldn't like the sit n stand, which is why I did the Graco first. I started using the sit n stand when he was 3...he loved it & we didn't have problems w/ him getting up and running around. Since you have a 3 yr. old already, I definitely recommend the sit n stand.

Definitely a sit-n-stand for their ages. I had a BabyTrend Sit-N-Stand Deluxe for my son and his younger cousins who we often had outings with, so we didn't have to take a bunch of strollers. I loved everything about it. And the Deluxe has an option to use two traditional seats, or convert it to a sit-n-stand. We got this one for the option of using the second seat as a full seat, but never actually did. My son loved the sit/stand option, and you can't stand on it with the second seat in. It is an option, though.

But, if I have another baby, I'm going to try the Joovy... '

But either way, I'd definitely go with the sit-n-stand. So versatile.

I have an 8m old and a 2.5 year old and we bought a joovy sit and stand. I love it! It is great for the kids at this age. It is light weight and actually folds up smaller than most sit and stands. My husband did alot of research and this one got the best reviews. But for a newborn it is not good because it does not recline very far. Most sit and stands do not recline very far because you have to leave room for the sit/stand part so they are not good for newborns but in a couple of months it will be perfect. I just used a regular stroller for my littlest one for a couple of months. You probably won't be going alot of places for a couple of months anyway!

I had neither. I just put my 18-month-old in the stroller and the baby in an Ergo or a sling.

Sit n stand. I have a 3 (will be 4 in Jan) and a 4 month old and that stroller is awesome! The 3 yr old is at that age where most of the time she wants to walk, but boy, when she is tired and wants to sit...LOOK OUT! :) For us, its a perfect little compromise. I find the stroller easy to push, fold up/unfold, and surprisingly, it doesn't take up that much room compared to a single stroller.

I'd say neither but it depends your kid. None of my kids wanted to sit in the stroller once they hit 2.5. My youngest has sat in one since she turned 2. They'd rather walk all day at the zoo or museums or fairs.

I definately wouldn't get a double. Waste of money. Most 3 year olds do not sit in strollers - and they shouldn't. They are more than capable of walking all day. If you really want something, get the Sit 'n Stand Double Elite from onestepahead.com. It's a normal 2 seat double stroller but in less than a minute you can take out the backseat and it transforms into a sit 'n stand. Great quality, easy to move, one hand folding, not much bigger than single stroller when folded up and large storage basket underneath. An infant carseat can lock into place in the front seat.

My vote is the Phil and Ted's front back double stroller, but I guess it depends on when you would use it most. Would you use it to work out or go on outings or shopping. The phil and Ted's are great quality and great work out strollers, and the doubles seat is so easy to take in and out, so I just feel like it would be more practical for you.

Good luck,
A. V.

I would second the Phil and Ted's. Also a Valco tri-mode with the toddler seat but that is pretty big. Sit and stands are huge and hard to push. If you can come up with the funds and get a higher quality stroller, it will make your life a lot easier. Check out the strollerswap group on Yahoo. Tons of ladies on there with great advice.
