Sit N Spins, Trampolines

I have a couple of quick questions:
1. I keep seeing Sit and Spins for really cheap [most are 2 or 3 dollars used at garage sales/craigslist], and it seems like it could be fun, ...but to me it looks so uncomfortable I can't imagine any child actually using it. For those of you who have had this in your children's toy collection over the years, did your child actually use it? What is the best age?
2. What age do you think trampolines are okay? I looked at a mini trampoline that had an adjustable handle bar that goes across for support which can be taken off too, and I think my almost-2-yr-old would love to jump on it, especially during the long winter. He loves jumping already and every time I turn my back for even a minute he is trying to jump off of anything he can find to elevate himself: toys, the bookshelf, the ottoman, the sofa, the living room chairs and the dining room chairs, which are even more dangerous than the trampoline. I am obviously worried about safety and thought if we had a trampoline, at least he could focus his energy on that, and I could also put it away when needed. I thought maybe I could buy some foam to make a kind of gym mat to surround it. What other alternatives are there for toddlers to jump safely? Because he is so obsessed with jumping, if not the mini trampoline, I would like to get him SOMEthing that he can jump with.
Thank you in advance!!

What can I do next?

Sit N Spins in my opinion are a great toy for little ones. I have 3 boys and they use to love using it. As far as trampoline I think the one you are looking at is perfect for your childs age.

I had a Sit n Spin as a child and I loved it. I would love to get one for my autistic almost 4 year old. Spinning is one of his stims.

I think the trampoline sounds like a great idea.

My son spent huge amounts of time on his sit 'n spin from age 2-5. It was a favorite. We had a small tramp but it was in the basement so he only used it when daddy was done lifting weights. But I think it is a great way for kids of all ages to burn energy.

Sit n Spins are hours of cheap, safe, physical entertainment. Go for it!

At age 2, I think he's too little for a trampoline, but it would be fine to get him a big jumping cushion!

Wait until next spring to get a mini-trampoline. Then dig a hole in the ground the size of the trampoline. Set the trampoline in the hole so that the top of the tramploine is even with the ground. That way, when they fall, they don't fall far. And they get to jump as much as they want to.

I got my kids a Sit N Spin because my oldest had sensory issues. He was 5 and didn't use it. Maybe he was too old, but my 2 year-old (at the time) never used it either. It might be worth a try though, especially if you can find one so inexpensively. I am very opposed to regular, outdoor trampolines, but I think the mini trampolines are a great idea and look very safe. When my boys were in their jumping stages I also put an old crib mattress on the floor in the basement. They had one of those toddler Little Tike climber/slides and could jump, with supervision, from the climber to the mattress. It was just about a one foot distance, but like you said it was better than jumping off of the furniture, etc.

My kids loved the sit and spin. They used it from about 1yr old til they couldn't spin their weight which was about 5 yrs old. Trampolines are also fun. My 2 yr old daughter loved it when she was 1. My 4.5 yr old son still loves it and my 6 yr old daughter wants a bigger one. I think your son would love both of them and the trampoline is good for wearing off their energy. I say get em
