Sinusitis - Chicago,IL

Hello!
Anyone know of any natural remedies to cure/unclog the sinuses. I have had sinusitis for a few months now and have tried so many different things with not much relief. I want to go the natural way ~ I have tried antibiotics from the doctor and even that has not cured it.

Thanks for any advice!

Kind Regards~
H.

What can I do next?

Yes, try the sinus rinse method. (I think of this as my "nose gargle.") I've had tremendous relief from chronic nasal allergies and related symptoms, and if used early in a cold, it can minimize the nasal symptoms. I think I've even thwarted a head cold entirely a couple of times.

A dear friend of mine suffered from terrible sinusitis for at least 10 years until she started using a neti pot (no amount of medical care seemed to make a difference). All symptoms cleared out completely within a month.

Good luck.

I use the NeilMed sinus rinse every night BEFORE bed. I do NOT use the netty pot - it's messy - i use the bottle.

The other thing that helped me was to have my sinuses "blown out" by my ENT - it was an outpatient surgery - and removed pollyps, my deviated septum (which can cause a lot of problems) and cleaned out all the gunk. I have only had ONE sinus infection since it happened.

The sinus rinse is WONDERFUL!!!

I have used the NeilMed sinus rinse too. It does work well. My mom has terrible sinus problems and has had sinus surgery several times to periodically remove nasal polyps. My mom's doctor told her people really should look at nasal rinses the same way as brushing teeth. Do it daily for routine maintenance! We get just as many germs in our nose from breathing as we do breathing through our mouths.
I use rhinecort nasal spray (prescription). It really helps all year round. It sounds like you may have to take care of this particular sinusitis episode with more antibiotics to get rid of it before relying on natural remedies to find relief.

A neti pot. Sometimes it can take several courses of antibiotics to clear a sinus infection. It usually takes my son 3 rounds to finally rid it.

Try a sinus cleanse-neti pot or saline spray. Also you should look into yeast being the culprit behind this as it often is.

neti pots can be very effective.

I would also look at the root issue....what's causing this reaction? What are you allergic to?

I agree - the sinus rinse bottle is great. It also cleanses your sinuses from allergens and irritants - and feels good (once you are done!).

Get you some raw unfiltered Apple cider vinegar from the health food store. I use the brand by Bragg's. Take a tablespoon of vinegar in about 6oz. of water. You can add a little honey if you can't take the bitter taste. My husband & I usually just take it down like a shot & get it over with.
