Hello Everyone, I am new here. I lost my job while on maternity leave and have been looking for work for many months. I do not get child support and need a full-time job as soon as possible. The only daycare I have found for infants is $200 a week and together with my rent, etc. I need to make at least 30k plus benefits. If I could work at home I would need less money- like 26k or so. I can send you my resume if you would like. I have a BA and years of professional experience but just can't find a job. Any help or ideas would be appreciated. (not Mary Kay or pyramid schemes please!)I have experience as a counselor/social worker/workshop presenter/group facilitator. I am great at doing research online and am a good writer and speaker. I would love to be somewhere that has onsite daycare. Thank you in advance for your help.:-)

What can I do next?

Hi Cyntha,
I am so sorry to hear about your situation and hope that I can help you. I too lost my job back in April and although I am not single and I have 2 kids have not been able to find a job myself.
I started looking for a job at home so that I could take care of my kids myself and home school them to meet a dream that my husband and myself have had and guess what? I found a great team to work at home with. It is not Mary Kay, Avon or some sort of MLM. What it is...is an appointment setting team. There is a very very low investment to get started and the products are healthier not only for your sweet little baby girl, but for you as well.
I would love to set an appointment up with you to give you more information or you can go to my ____@____.com/R.
I look forward to making an appointment with you for you to learn more...good luck and God bless!

What type of work experience do you have? What was your previous job? Incidently, why did you lose it while you were on maternity leave? In a lot of cases it's illegal for an employer to fire or layoff an employee on maternity leave. That happened to a friend and her company had to pay her a $20,000 lump sum settlement for laying her off. Anyway, give us more details on what type of work you are qualified to do.

I know a single mom that has trouble finding work. She has applied for food stamps and received them. She can also get cash assistance and when working you can get coordinated Child Care which pays almost all of your daycare expenses. Call 211 and they are suppose to help you get going in the right direction. Work is scarce these days. There are plenty of "Network" marketing companies out there these days...but there are no pyramid schemes anymore. They are against the law. It is a consideration if you really want to stay home. Just do your homework on them. Of course they are only as good as you work them. They do have companies that you don't carry any products and that do not require you to run all over the place either. The only other home jobs I can think of is medical billing type jobs which don't seem to last long for some reason. How good are you on the computer/internet stuff. There are tons of ways to make money that way. Ebay is a good way to make a living if you learn the right way to do it. There are two consignment shops that I have come across that sell car seats but they are in Pinellas County. The closest to you is Stellie Bellies on 4th Street in St. Petersburg. I purchased a Britax car seat from them and it was in good condition, not too old to use either. I baby sit so I needed a 3rd car seat. You can call them to see if they have any in before driving over. They will also call you when they get a car seat in. You can also find some new ones for around $50-$60. Good luck to you I know you are in a stressful situation.
