E., I appreciated that you sent me a flower on your other thread. What I want to say here is that you don't say how much time your 11 year old is spending online. She seems to have far too much open access to the internet as it is - especially having found that other mature website that you were going to let her play.

As far as Sims 2 is concerned, I don't want to remark on a game I haven't played. But your remark on your last thread (SWH) that one of the Sims game would be appropriate for a one year REALLY worries me because I really can't tell that you are joking, given your questions in the aggregate. NO little child should be playing on the internet. Little kids have to learn thousands of things - not just walking and talking and eating and learning and accepting the word no and getting along with other toddlers. They have to learn to live LIFE. The same thing goes for 11 year olds. How much does she read? Does she play any sports? Does she have girlfriends? Do they spend time together? Does she have family nearby, a grandmother, aunt, etc.? Has she started to learn how to cook, clean? Does she know anything about the systems of a car? Does she earn an allowance?

Just like a little one year old, an 11 year old has a ton to learn about life in general, and the worry for me is that you are letting her spend too much time on the internet and playing these games. One lady mentioned a college student who spent 4 years on Warcraft and that game you were talking about on the other thread - wow, what a WASTE of 4 years of college.

Please consider changing gears in your home and get your daughter involved in LIFE. Church groups, sports, things that will mold her as a person. There is really nothing that you CAN'T do for her that these games can. Really and truly.

Stop asking questions you know the answer to. NO your daughter as mature as she may seem should NOT be playing this game or the one you posted about yesterday.

How about take away the computer for awhile and get her involved in something real that is age appropriate. Its a beautiful day take her out on a walk, to a friends house. Something to do in reality and stop enabling her fake inappropriate game play.

Get involved!

I think you are asking because you already know the answer.

My 17 yr old has a Sims program BUT she was closer to 16 when she got it vs being 11.

She liked it because she liked building the city, etc. We are very open minded and wide open communication and she told me she didn't realize what it was when she got it. The gist she got before she got the game was building a city, etc... not maintaining the people.

No matter how mature a 11 yr old child is..... NO... My then 16 yr old was turned off by it and opts to do more productive things than maintain a city and its population online.

Get your 11 yr old interested in something that will be productive to her and engage her mind positively.

ADDED: I just went and read the ONLY other question you have posted which is on the same line as this one. I question if you are for real. If you are for real, please get you and your daughter some help.

No, definitely not, they can have relationships (that produce children) though nothing sexually graphic is seen, commit adultery, drink... Just because a child is mature doesn't mean they should be allowed to play grown-up games with adult themes. Even though she can avoid the adult content, it sounds like she is out looking for it, so I wouldn't even let her give in to the temptation. Although Sims is a better option than Second Life, it's not the best. Kids need to have time to be kids and be innocent for a little while. Beside the content, isn't it a rather huge waste of time for a child to get lost in a make-believe world? I read your last question as well and I worry for your daughter and you. Since she is discovering these games on her own, I wonder if she has strayed into a chatroom with a pedophile yet.

Oh, we love love love the Sims. Just bought the original one again off Ebay and my son and I son both play it. I think he must have been younger than your daughter when I first owned it and he always watched me play or played himself. He is almost 16 now btw.

It is a cute little game and I see no harm with it.

Have fun!

nope.
Sims can have sex.
11 yr old does not need to be exposed to this.

Absolutely not! This is an inappropriate game for even my 15yr old that is not allowed to purchase or play any of these games anywhere. There are so many more game he can choose from. He is not even worried about not being able to. This is a grown-up game. The game clearly tells you this is for mature adults. MA-not for 11yr olds. If this games will allow someone to have sex if they want. How is this appropriate for and 11yr old.
