"Simply Gargle" While Pregnant?
Have any of you moms used the product "Simply Gargle" while pregnant? I found it at Rite Aid when I wasn't prego, used it, and loved it. I have some left over from that cold which I would love to use now that I have that naggy sore throat feeling again, but I am not sure if it is safe. I looked online at their website which was temporarily down and at some of the reviews on google. Of course no other users had mentioned using while prego. So here is what the ingredients on the container say:
vitamin c, grape seed extract, rosemary extract, rose hip extract , witch hazel extract, and sage extract.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

I couldn't say for sure about the SG (although sage is fine, rosemary is fine, as is the massive vitamin C -rose hips are a vitamin c source- )....
But for sure feel free to take extra vitC, and you can ALWAYS gargle with saltwater (kills strep).
If no one here has the answer...your pharmacist will know for sure.

This is more of a response to some of the replies than to your original post.
Culinary use of rosemary and sage are not a problem during pregnancy. If there is a problem with these herbs during pregnancy, I would suspect it would come from larger doses associated with medicinal use.
That said, you're gargling with the stuff, so I don't see how you would ingest enough rosemary or sage to cause any harm. Ask your doc. Most of them have a phone number you can call with concerns.

Looks safe to me. If you are just gargling with it and not swallowing the Rosemary is completely safe.

I think you are supposed to stay away from Rosemary while pregnant. I would ask your pharmacist or doctor.

Do a google search with words like pregnant/pregnancy, herbs, dangerous, etc. to find a list of herbs not to use during pregnancy. My memory is that R. and sage are two not to use during pregnancy.
It's hard to wait, but I just put off most herbal products until after the baby comes....

I agree with one of the PP's that gargling salt water to help a sore throat is one of the best, safest and most natural things out there and it works! Then you can have a cup of tea with honey (and lemon), and then when done drinking that take a spoonful of honey, it will coat your throat and make it feel better!
