Simple Handmade Construction Theme Invitations

My son will be 6 in a few weeks and we have chosen a construction theme. Do you have any simple ideas to make cute construction themed invitations?

What can I do next?

Hi J.!

I have a lot of cute ideas for a construction theme! How many invites are you sending out? You could also make coordinating party favors as well!

When you say construction theme are you thinking buldozers and trucks? Street Signs? Orange Cones? I'm happy to help, just give me a call ###-###-#### or email me at ____@____.com

Go to either micheals, Joan fabrics, Msijers, or where ever they sell foam stickies. Look for the construction ones and make the invite out of colored construction paper and foamies.

cut them out of "construction " paper (pun intended) in the shape of a tool. (hammer or construction hat) Trace the shape on the paper and let the munchkin help cut.

Check out the dollar stores... Sometimes they have some nifty bob the builder or construction birthday stuff. (stickers, confetti, drawing pages, etc.)

Hi J.,
I'm a retired 1-2 teacher. I guess you have to decide who the invitation is meant to make an impression upon. If you want to get the enthusiasm "pumped up" with the invitees I would get inexpensive hot wheels or dollar store construction vehicles, make a simple invitation on a decorated notecard or computer paper, roll it and attach the vehicle to the invitation with colorful ribbon. Believe me, the kids will be thrilled and already have a small momento of the party beforehand. You could stick with trucks with shovels, etc. and also include a small candy favor . Birthday a In a Box online has great stuf to choose from. Also Oriental Trading Compay y might be worth checking out. I passed out many invitations for parents in my classroom and always noticed many didn't even get opened by the children they just asked the birthday child if it was for a party and then put it in their backpack. So, I'd decide on my audience and then design the invitation. I saw some great ideas for invitations for adults already listed. I hope your party is a huge success! Be sure to include some construction-type games int he party.

Check out the scrapbooking supplies for construction related supplies like stickers, paper, stamps, brads and some dollar stores have this type of stuff. There are premade cards with envelopes and you can also find card paper that comes with envelopes that you can use in your printer. (if you need envelopes) I saw a cute one that was really simple that used graphing paper and looks like a post card...hopefully this link will work http://www.twopeasinabucket.com/pg.asp?cmd=display&la... There are several sites for cardmaking and scrapbooking that would give you some ideas.

Hello J.,

You should check out familyfun.com. They have lots of party ideas and I'm sure I saw a construction theam there. They will give you ideas on how to make invatations as well as games to do and cakes!
Have a great birthday party!

Use construction paper and cut out, hammer, hard hat, tool box, screwdriver, tape measure, saw, etc. You could get really fancy and make a tool box full of tools and each tool would have the time, place, etc on it. I'm sure the $1 store has decorations too :)
