Hi EM:
You may want to check with your PED if your baby keeps experiencing gas or becomes constipated. My Grandson became so constipated,and was in so much pain,that we had to run him to the Dr. We found out,that the formula contained to much IRON for the little guy. The PED said some babies have trouble digesting that much iron. We had to start him on a lower iron formula. I wish you and your baby the best.

I do not recommend Similac in any form. My son had terrible indegestion from the formula 25 years ago. I have talked to other new parents and still here the same complaints about Similac. I found Infamil with iron the only formula my son could tolerate.

I never used the formula meant for the 9+month olds. I just kept using the regular formula until my son was a year and then switched to whole milk. I don't think there is any reason to switch especially if it's causing gas.

Hi E M I used Similac with iron for all 3 of my babies, and it was great. usually trhe warmer the water the better in mixes, I started out using the Ready To Feed Similac all's I had to do was shake the can up poor, and heat it up, I switched to the powder when they got older. J.

Hi E M! I've never tried the Similac Go and Grow but I've been using the Similac Alimentum (because my son has multiple food allergies). If the formula you are using seems to cause more gas in your baby, I would switch back. I think it's okay to give your baby formula that's meant for younger babies as long as you're supplementing w/solid foods to balance it all out. Because my son has SO many food allergies, he's very limited in what he can eat (solids) so I still give him the Alimentum (for birth to 12 months) as a supplement even though he's now over 2 yrs old and he's doing just fine. The way I look at it, it's like some adults having to drink Ensure when they're not getting enough otherwise. Does that make sense? I hope that helps. Take care, B.
