Any idea how to get silly putty out of carpet. Tried ice already and that did not work.

What can I do next?

I would try Goo Gone or WD-40. Then use a good degreaser cleaner to get those products out, simple green works well.

A friend just mentioned that she had to "google" how to get silly putty out of her daughter's hair. The recommendation, which worked, was to use an alcohol-based waterless soap, like Purell. I supposed it could work on carpets also.
Good luck,

Here is the trick I've used to get gum out of clothes, so it should work on silly putty in carpet as well: put some vinegar in a dish and microwave it until it is piping hot. Then take a toothbrush and dip it into the hot vinegar, then scrape away the putty. It works best when the vinegar is really hot, so you might have to re-heat it a few times until you can get it all out. The only downside is the vinegar smell, but I'm guessing that would fade away over time or could be tamed down with baking soda, carpet deodorizer, etc. Good luck!

WD-40 or GooGone(which I swear by) and blot with a rag with rubbing alcohol on it. Repeat until stain is gone and make sure you have a window open.

This may make a bigger mess in your carpet, but peanut butter works! I have used it to get silly putty out of hair...it basically dissolves the sticky part! :) Good Luck.

Put some baby/cooking oil over the area. Let it soak for approx. 1-2hrs and then lift off. I know this has worked for PlayDoh so it should work for silly putty. Good luck!!

There is a product called goo gone. If you get it, try it on a hidden spot first to make sure it won't discolor the carpet.
